As a die-hard fan who’s been following the Marvel Universe since the days of comic books, I must say that the Deadpool & Wolverine movie was a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions! The film breaking box office records and becoming the second highest-grossing film of the year only added to the excitement.
The movie featuring Deadpool and Wolverine turned out to be incredibly successful, surpassing the billion-dollar mark and becoming the second highest-grossing film of the year, trailing only Inside Out 2. Critics may not have been blown away, but fans adored the film. In terms of the franchise’s future, the positive response from fans is what truly matters.
The film featured many appearances by familiar faces and hidden references, as Marvel could draw from a rich pool of diverse characters. However, some characters didn’t ultimately make it into the finished movie.
Previously, we’ve delved into numerous roles and squandered chances, shedding light on some of the factors behind them. Now, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, along with director Shawn Levy, have shared additional insights about the character of Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider, who unfortunately didn’t make it to the final lineup.
Shawn Levy implied that they were fortunate to receive numerous positive replies for the film, which significantly improved the end result: “We were lucky to get a lot of affirmative responses. This was mainly due to Ryan’s direct approach; he would often surprise-call them and put them on the spot.
However, as previously mentioned, not everyone shared the same viewpoint. Now, let’s delve into the mystery surrounding Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider, a character conspicuously missing from recent appearances, despite initial plans that included him in the movie. It was Ryan Reynolds who disclosed the details about Ghost Rider.
Initially, we created several variations of that particular scene, but over time, they evolved into what you see now. We strive to ensure the film is produced with care and responsibility, given its substantial budget.
For the Deadpool films, we’ve chosen to work with a budget that’s the largest among them. This decision is made to create an environment that stimulates unconventional thinking and creativity. Overabundance of resources like time or money often stifles such creative processes. So, in essence, we’re scaling things down. We did reach out to Nicolas Cage, but unfortunately, he was unable to participate. I would have loved to see him on board!

It’s clear that the plan didn’t come to fruition – unfortunately, Nicholas Cage wasn’t part of the movie. Reynolds was right; his inclusion would have made a significant difference and added a unique flavor to it. Regrettably, it didn’t work out this time. However, we can only keep our fingers crossed that Cage may reprise his role as Ghost Rider someday. In the meantime, we’ll get to see him play Spider-Man Noir.
