New Netflix Sci-Fi Horror Movie Hits 22 Million Views and Takes Streamer’s #1 Spot

As a seasoned movie buff with over three decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must admit that Netflix‘s latest offering, “Time Cut,” left me somewhat perplexed. Having witnessed the evolution of time-travel narratives since the likes of “Back to the Future” and “The Terminator,” I find myself yearning for a fresh take on this well-tread theme.

Netflix’s recently released science fiction horror movie, titled “Time Cut“, follows the tale of Lucy, portrayed by Madison Bailey from “Outer Banks”, who is both a high school student and an amateur inventor. After unintentionally time-traveling to 2003, she sets out on a mission to prevent her older sister Summer, played by Antonia Gentry from “Ginny & Georgia”, from being murdered by a mysterious masked killer.

Last week, Netflix revealed that the movie garnered approximately 22 million views since its October 30 debut. The film has now made it to Netflix’s top ten list, surpassing two other recently released titles: Sam Raimi’s horror production “Don’t Move” and the Marvel sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie isn’t performing exceptionally well, as it has a critics’ rating of only 26%. Decider’s review describes it as having “mountains of period-specific references lacking humor, intense drama without much depth, and characters with little to no depth in their personal lives.

According to Bloody Disgusting, this might indicate that it’s high time for us to shift away from the genre of time travel-themed slasher movies.

The audience rating isn’t significantly improved at 33%. One viewer commented, “The most telling example of how poor this is, is that Lucy can predict the exact timing and location of a murder yet is unable to prevent it because she gets caught up in trying on clothes and loses track of time!!”.
