As a seasoned Star Wars enthusiast who has navigated the complexities of the saga since the original trilogy graced our screens, I must admit that the latest revelation regarding the Inquisitor from Ahsoka Tano’s adventures left me both intrigued and slightly bewildered.

The storyline of Star Wars lore is intricate and extensive, just as you’d expect. It began with Lucas’ movies, later expanded to encompass the ‘Legends’ universe, but after Disney acquired Lucasfilm, it was rewritten and updated, leaving only a handful of works cinematic in nature and a few others as canonical in the Disney era; all else was deemed non-canonical.

As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I can’t help but notice the ongoing integration of elements from the original Legends universe into the current canon. Simultaneously, Disney is meticulously crafting its own Star Wars narrative, which inevitably leads to a mix of exciting new revelations and the occasional continuity hiccup. In this article, we’ll be diving into a piece of news that embodies both these aspects.

Namely, do you remember the mysterious Inquisitor that Ahsoka Tano fought in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi? Well, the most recent Star Wars Encyclopedia provides us with more information on the Inquisitor, but that seems to have resulted in some continuity issues!

If you’re unsure about what we’re discussing, it pertains to Episode 6 of the series “Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” and the captivating book “Ahsoka” penned by E.K. Johnston. In the television show episode, Ahsoka Tano engages in a fierce battle with an Inquisitor, ultimately emerging victorious. Similarly, in “Ahsoka”, she encounters another Inquisitor under similar circumstances. Initially, it was assumed to be a continuity issue, but further investigation revealed something different.

In essence, within the series ‘Ahsoka’, it’s confirmed that the Sixth Brother is indeed the Inquisitor under discussion. However, the appearance of this character in ‘Tales of the Jedi’ was markedly distinct; at the time, this figure had yet to be identified, leading fans to speculate that Filoni altered details for storytelling purposes. Yet, a reference in the ‘Star Wars Encyclopedia’ suggests otherwise.

It’s unmistakable that this character is the First Brother, distinct from the Sixth Brother whom Ahsoka encountered in the novel. Here’s what we know about the Sixth Brother:

The issue here is not that we now know who the First Brother is but that these two characters feature in almost identical stories. This, actually, means that both these stories are true, and while the reference book fixed the continuity issue, it did so in a clumsy way, as it turns out that Ahsoka lived through an almost identical story twice. But, at least, both of them are true!
