The Practical Puppet for Horror Movie PINOCCHIO UNSTRUNG Is Pure Nightmare Fuel

As a seasoned gamer and horror enthusiast with a soft spot for childhood classics, I must say the revelation of yet another “Twisted Childhood Universe” installment leaves me both intrigued and slightly horrified. Last year, Pooh Bear’s dark transformation sent chills down my spine, and now Pinocchio is joining the ranks with “Pinocchio Unstrung.” The casting of horror icons like Robert Englund as Cricket adds an exciting twist to this tale of terror.

Previously, terror enthusiasts encountered a sinister interpretation of Winnie the Pooh in “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”. Subsequently, another cherished figure from our childhood, Mickey Mouse, entered the public domain, leading to a chilling adaptation of “Steamboat Willie” as well. Recently, we’ve been informed by IGN that the “Twisted Childhood Universe” will carry on with a horrifying rendition of Pinocchio. Titled “Pinocchio Unstrung“, this new film has just brought on board one of the most prominent figures in horror – Robert Englund. The veteran Freddy Krueger actor is joined by Richard Brake, a frequent collaborator with Rob Zombie, who will play Geppetto in the film. Below, you can find the first images of the upcoming terrifying Pinocchio puppet:

Directors Rhys Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey, known for their work on “Blood and Honey”, have teamed up with makeup effects artist Todd Masters to construct a real Pinocchio puppet for the movie “Pinocchio Unstrung”. Todd Masters is renowned for his special effects work in films such as the remake of “Child’s Play”, “Dune: Part Two”, and cult classics like “Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight” and James Gunn’s “Slither”. Despite the initial low-budget nature of their first film, “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”, it appears that the production budget has noticeably increased for this new Pinocchio project, based on the ominous appearance of the puppet.

Admittedly, the tiny Pinocchio puppet in this production has given us quite an unsettling feeling. We’re curious to see if the entire movie can match the eerie vibe set by this creepy-looking puppet. The advancements in practical effects for films are truly impressive, and Robert Englund will be playing Cricket. What remains to be seen is who will lend their voice to the sinister version of Pinocchio, yearning to become a real boy. The film “Pinocchio: Unstrung” is now in production, with a tentative release date set for late 2025.
