‘Attention Seeker’: Taylor Swift’s Fans Call Out Scott Borchetta For Sharing Tribute Post For Singer

As a long-time Taylor Swift fan and witness to her remarkable journey, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions when I see posts like Scott Borchetta‘s recent tribute. While it’s heartwarming to see him reminisce about their early days, the bitter taste of history lingers. It’s like inviting an old, slightly annoying ex-boyfriend to your wedding and expecting everyone to act as if he never broke your heart.

Fans of Taylor Swift expressed their disapproval towards Scott Borchetta following his Instagram post commemorating the 20-year anniversary of his initial encounter with the Maroon singer. The music executive posted an old photograph of them together on the platform, accompanied by a caption stating, “Today marks the 20th anniversary of my first meeting with Taylor. A day that significantly impacted both our lives.

He further expressed how “proud” he was of the work she produced when they were collaborators, and even now. “Keep crushing it,” he added. However, Swifties didn’t appreciate the heartfelt message and called out his hypocrisy. “This is so ridiculous. Attention-seeker behavior. Fraud,” one fan wrote, referring to the infamous history between them.

“This left me feeling nauseous. He persists in attempting to reconcile online with her, even now, which is quite distasteful.

15-year-old Taylor Swift, the singer behind “Bad Blood”, joined Borchetta’s record label, Big Machine Records, in 2005 as their first artist. In June 2019, Swift expressed feelings of disgust upon discovering that Borchetta had struck a deal with her adversary, Scooter Braun, under which Braun obtained ownership of Swift’s music catalog as part of his purchase of Big Machine Label Group.

The $300 million deal sparked major drama between the trio, leading Swift to sign with Republic Records, which granted her the rights to own her masters for future recordings, excluding her past work. As a result, she re-recorded and released her previous albums, including her self-titled debut album, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation.

During an interview on Good Morning America in August 2019, the singer expressed her enthusiasm about regaining control of her music and re-recording her albums. She explained that according to her contract, starting from November 2020 (which is next year), she will have the opportunity to re-record albums 1 through 5.

As a staunch advocate for creators’ rights, I can’t help but express my immense enthusiasm. I truly believe that artists should retain ownership of their work, a conviction that burns deeply within me. To put it simply, I’m all about empowering fellow artists to reap the rewards of their hard work and dedication.
