‘That Really Freed Me:’ Priscilla Presley Discusses Professional Ventures That Helped With Being Her ‘Own Person’

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for celebrity journeys, I find Priscilla Presley‘s evolution from being ‘The Wife of Elvis Presley’ to an accomplished entrepreneur and actress truly captivating. Her life story is a testament to the fact that even in the glare of stardom, one can carve out their unique identity.

Priscilla Presley discusses the various careers and endeavors that enabled her to carve out a distinct persona beyond being solely recognized as the spouse of legendary entertainer Elvis Presley. During a recent interview, she reminisced about these professional endeavors.

As a dedicated follower sharing information from People magazine, I can tell you that on November 1, Friday, I was part of the audience at Rhode Island Comic Con where Priscilla attended a solo panel. During her talk, she covered numerous topics including aspects of her life and her former spouse. In response to a question during the Q&A, she was asked about the ventures she embarked on after her divorce that best reflected ‘Priscilla’ rather than just ‘The Burning Love vocalist’s wife.’

In response, the businesswoman expressed, “As for the films I’ve starred in, I believe it was primarily my decision. To be more precise, I simply chose what I enjoyed, and let me tell you, the Naked Gun series and playing on Dallas were fantastic. This experience gave me a sense of independence.

Priscilla ventured into the realm of acting, not only starring in popular shows like Melrose Place, Agent Elvis, and Spin City, but she simultaneously managed businesses. Together with others, she established Elvis Presley Enterprises and previously held the position of its chairman.

For those unfamiliar, she got married to Elvis on May 1, 1967, in Las Vegas at the age of 21. They initially met when he was 24 and she was just 14 years old. The relationship ended in 1973.

In the year 1967, they collectively welcomed a single child into the world, whom they affectionately named Lisa Marie Presley. Tragically, she left us at the age of 54 in January 2023.

In the course of our chat during the gathering, she casually mentioned her ex-husband as well. As it turns out, he built his own lasting impact through his professional journey.

Back in the day, when Elvis was just starting out, it was all about him choosing the tunes – no one else was calling the shots, not even old Colonel Tom! (Referring to Colonel Thomas Andrew Parker)

Priscilla mentioned that he had a great deal of freedom to express himself, which extended to his film selections as well. She stated that the singer of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” truly loved what he pursued.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d say my professional journey took an unexpected turn when my superior stepped into the scene, offering his perspective on how I, much like the iconic Elvis, should channel my talents.
