As a lifestyle expert with a keen interest in Hollywood and its intricate dynamics, I must say that it is truly heartwarming to witness the camaraderie and lasting friendships forged within the Harry Potter film franchise. Unlike many other productions where cast members may not get along, the actors in this iconic series have maintained a strong bond over the years.
In contrast to many productions in Hollywood, where cast members often have strained relationships, the Harry Potter film series bucked this trend. As evidenced by Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, the actors got along quite well.
On Sunday, November 3, Lewis discussed this topic during a solo panel for the film series at Rhode Island Comic Con. He shared his thoughts on the reason behind the franchise’s younger cast avoiding the challenges that many former child stars face in the limelight, as reported by People magazine.
Initially, he playfully suggested that they were skilled at hiding all these tales. Later, the actor referred to it as a “complex” journey as they moved from child roles to being professionals in this field. He also mentioned that there was a lot of apprehension about when he would break through and join the major players.
Lewis mentioned, “Though I must admit, my enthusiasm was certainly high regarding the possibility. Given my brief focus span, it’s likely the reason why I’ve never committed to a long-term profession.” He further revealed that after ten years of Harry Potter, he was eager for new challenges and wasn’t interested in anything that might lead to numerous sequels.
He shared that he had no clue about what lay ahead for him following his work on the beloved series, admitting he was completely unprepared. However, he made sure to acknowledge the friendships he formed with his fellow young Harry Potter actors as a source of stability and support during this transition period.
The actor from “The Me Before You” explained one question posed earlier about the challenges faced by child actors and how they seemed to have evaded them. He suggested that a significant part of this might be due to the fact that everyone involved in those situations were together.
He shared that many times stories come across about how they were the only actors in the film and they have to do the heavy lifting in the movie on their own and all the stress and anxiety that comes with that, but in Harry Potter’s case, they were all together.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but echo the actor’s words: “Many apprehensions that haunted us were mutual, and here’s the kicker – no one else on Earth can truly grasp or empathize with what we endured and how it shaped our personal journeys, save for each other.
He said it was incredible and enjoyable working with these individuals over the years. He expressed that those “friendships” were one of the things he had taken with him. Lewis said that he does not go back and read those books and the only thing that he has held onto was those “relationships” that they did forge throughout those projects.
