As a seasoned Marvel gamer with a vast collection of comics spanning decades, I can confidently say that Blade and Doctor Strange have always been an underrated dynamic duo in the Marvel universe. Their friendship has been tested time and again in various storylines, but it’s their recent encounters that have left fans on edge, anticipating a showdown between these formidable allies.
Both Blade and Doctor Strange are well-known characters from Marvel, although they don’t typically appear in Marvel’s most celebrated group of superheroes. However, their movies (either produced separately or within the Marvel Cinematic Universe) have significantly boosted their popularity, resulting in substantial fandoms for both characters now.
In Marvel’s comics, these two characters are often portrayed separately but hold a strong friendship that’s one of the undervalued pairings within the franchise. However, recent events in the comics have strained their bond, causing readers to suspect an upcoming confrontation between the two friends.
Instead of anticipating an intense battle between two formidable figures, a contemporary comic book has hinted at a simpler confrontation than expected. It seems one character possesses an unexpected tactic that will swiftly conclude the fight, though it may lack the usual level of excitement.
In the comics, Blade and Doctor Strange share a friendship. This may not be common knowledge among MCU fans as these characters haven’t crossed paths on screen yet, but they make an underestimated pairing in the source material. There have been numerous intriguing storylines that showcase their interaction in comic books.
However, although their friendship has generally followed a certain pattern for quite some time, a number of recent events have been shaping it significantly. The Blood Hunt storyline resulted in Blade, under possession, slaying Doctor Strange, an incident that left many fans feeling that this was the final blow to their relationship, as Doctor Strange ultimately resurrected.
It’s widely thought that a confrontation between them is about to happen… but who would emerge victorious? The response to this question could be found in the latest issue of “Blade: Red Band #1” by Bryan Hill, C.F. Villa, Java Tartaglia, and VC’s Clayton Cowles.
Specifically, in the latest series, Blade has chosen to live isolated, feeling that his actions from past narratives warrant solitude as punishment.
In that location, the Spellguard encounters Blade and enlists his services for a secret mission to take out a nefarious character called Pontius Van Helsing. Damien, one of the Spellguard’s right-hand men, then introduces himself to Blade, explains who Pontius is, and why he must be eliminated. Initially uninterested, Blade finds himself under attack by Damien’s allies when they learn about his intentions. However, he effortlessly fends off these opponents, engaging Damien in a confrontation instead.
He manages to overpower the spellcaster, and as he is about to kill him, this happens:

As a gamer, I’ve uncovered the secret behind the caster’s magical prowess – snuffed him out in combat and severed his tongue. So, if Damien manages to pull through, he’ll be powerless. In a similar fashion, Strange might face the same fate should the anticipated clash occur; we’ll deal with that eventuality when it arrives.
