As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for trends and tech in the entertainment industry, I find myself standing firmly behind Robert Downey Jr.’s stance against AI replicating human images. Having witnessed the evolution of gaming from pixelated sprites to lifelike characters, I can attest that there’s an undeniable magic in the human touch that gives these digital creations their soul and charm.
Over the past few years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has taken on a dual role in the film industry – it can be perceived as either a challenge or a remedy, based on one’s viewpoint. Some creative professionals are concerned that AI might displace human actors, screenwriters, and production staff, leading to potential job losses if studios begin using AI for character creation or scriptwriting.
Additionally, there’s concern over who should claim ownership of content generated by artificial intelligence. For instance, when an AI develops a character or a storyline, it remains unclear who should receive recognition or compensation for such creations.
During the latest SAG-AFTRA strike, Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerged as a significant point of discussion. This discourse led to considerable shifts within the industry. AI doesn’t just touch upon financial aspects and creative freedom; it also provokes moral and ethical dilemmas.
Is it acceptable for movie studios to utilize artificial intelligence to resurrect deceased actors? This is a topic that sparks debate, with Robert Downey Jr. among those who believe it’s morally wrong.
Just lately, I found myself on the “On with Kara Swisher” podcast, expressing my strong opposition towards the utilization of my likeness in AI. To put it plainly, I’ve made it abundantly clear that I won’t hesitate to take legal action against anyone daring enough to try. Moreover, even after I’m no longer around, my law firm will continue to stand as a formidable guardian, ready and willing to uphold my wishes in this matter.
I’m navigating through two different paths, and regarding all the current happenings, I find myself feeling relatively detached due to my own rich emotional experiences that take up most of my emotional capacity.
I’m not concerned about my character’s essence being taken over by the MCU creators since there are only a few people in charge of decision-making there. They wouldn’t manipulate my character even if I weren’t involved in the process.
I’d like to clarify that I plan to take legal action against any future executives under certain circumstances, even if no specific wrongdoing has been proven yet… My law firm, however, will continue to be actively engaged in various cases.

Besides discussing his investments in AI firms, Downey expressed that it’s not merely about the technology or profit-making. Instead, he is keen to understand the people behind these ventures and their values. He ponders over their intentions for utilizing the technology, whether their leadership can be relied upon, and what knowledge he might gain from them. As a result, his perspective on these matters remains well-balanced.
