On the first anniversary of Mathew Perry’s passing, his family paid tribute to him. The former Friends star’s stepfather Keith Morrison, mother Suzanne Morrison, and three aunts reminisced about important moments in Perry’s life during an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show. One of Perry’s sisters, Madeline, shared that at one point, he was unaware that he had fallen back into addiction.

He asserted that following a period of abstinence during and after his book tour, he turned to using Ketamine for therapeutic reasons. However, unbeknownst to him, he eventually began taking large amounts, which marked a return to relapse. The family portrayed Perry as a strong-willed individual with a mind of his own. At heart, he was a deeply lonely person battling internal struggles.

After his passing, five individuals, among them two physicians, have faced charges for Perry’s death. Out of these five, three have admitted guilt to conspiring in the distribution of ketamine, but the self-proclaimed “Ketamine Queen” has not yet entered a plea of guilty.

Perry’s stepfather expressed his excitement over the concept of accountability, stating that anyone who distributes harmful substances and a person dies as a result, “You’ll face consequences, my dear.” On the other hand, Perry’s mother reminisced about her last heartfelt encounter with the deceased actor.

It turned out that the actor was unusually engaged with her, as she later realized. He shared his recent property purchases with her and expressed deeply-held emotions, saying, “I love you so much and I’m overjoyed to be with you now.” In looking back, Suzanne came to believe it wasn’t a mere coincidence but a sign that he had come to terms with something unavoidable.

1) “She remembered that she felt it was inevitable, and he strongly sensed it too, what would transpire next for him.” On October 28, 2023, Perry was discovered unconscious in his hot tub and ultimately passed away due to the sudden impact of Ketamine. This substance, as identified by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, serves as a “dissociative anesthetic” that is linked with hallucinogenic effects.
