‘A Bit Deaf’: Adele Reveals Partial Hearing Impairment From Painful Infection Which Was ‘Worse Than Childbirth’

As a dedicated follower and admirer of Adele‘s journey, I find myself deeply moved by her resilience and strength. Her life experiences, from battling postpartum depression to overcoming a painful ear infection, only serve to magnify her aura as a remarkable woman.

On Friday, October 25th, Adele disclosed an unfortunate health issue – an ear infection that has temporarily affected her hearing. In clips posted on social media, the “Skyfall” performer informed her audience at her Las Vegas concert about her recovery from this painful ear infection. She described it as the most agonizing experience she’s ever encountered, even worse than childbirth.

As reported by the Grammy-winning artist herself, during her tour in Munich this summer, she contracted a rare strain of water bacteria. She went on to say that it proved difficult to treat, causing her to take incorrect antibiotics for a brief period. Currently, she is recovering well but mentioned that her left ear has some hearing loss. However, she emphasized that nothing would keep her from attending the show, using a strong language to express her dedication.

Adele, without delving deeper into her current situation, has previously opened up about her transition into motherhood when she gave birth to her son Angelo in 2012, who is with her ex-partner Simon Konecki. In a recent interview with The Face in November 2021, Adele mentioned that she feels some parts of herself may never return, alluding to the adjustments and compromises that come with parenthood. She emphasized the diminished freedom she now experiences as her child has become her top priority.

In addition to what she shared, Adele mentioned during the interview that she experienced postpartum depression, which is referred to as postnatal depression in the United Kingdom.

As Angelo grows up, the singer is gradually getting better at letting go and finding more freedom. She has also expressed aspirations for having additional children someday, possibly with her partner Rich Paul, a sports agent. “I definitely want a couple more kids,” she said to the BBC in July 2022. “It would be great. If not, I’m content with Angelo.

Adele continues to co-parent her son with her ex-husband.

During her recent Las Vegas concert, Adele had a heartwarming interaction with Celine Dion. In a video that’s been widely shared online, dated October 26th, Adele could be seen singing When We Were Young when she moved towards Dion in the audience. The two music legends appeared emotional as they spoke briefly during their hug. At one instance, Dion gently held Adele’s face, which Adele kissed before continuing her performance.

Adele’s Weekends With Adele residency will conclude its run on November 23.
