Sarah Danser, who gained fame from her appearance on Discovery’s Naked and Afraid in 2017, tragically passed away following a car accident that occurred last Sunday. At the time of the incident, the 34-year-old reality TV personality was traveling with a 59-year-old companion in the Kahala area near Honolulu on a Sunday evening.
An accident involving a vehicle occurred when the driver, according to Hawaii News Now, lost grip and struck a stationary vehicle. Authorities suggested that speed played a role prior to the collision, but neither drugs nor alcohol seem to have contributed to the event. The driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while one of the occupants from the parked car also sustained severe injuries; her companion endured similar injuries as well.
For the past 12 years, Danser has resided in Hawaii. Originally from Colorado, she embraced Hawaiian culture wholeheartedly and referred to herself on social media as a boat captain, scuba diver, survivalist, and something akin to a pirate. She utilized her skills in reality shows such as Naked and Afraid and its spin-off series, Naked and Afraid XL.
On the Discovery reality series that debuted in 2013, contestants face challenging weather and wildlife in a rugged natural setting with minimal supplies. In simple terms, the show’s official description states that “several pairs of individuals who don’t know each other are put to the test as they try to survive the harsh wilderness without any clothing.
More recently, in the year 2023, Danser appeared on the survival show Fight to Survive, which airs on The CW. In this program, contestants aim to endure for 25 days on a secluded tropical island, facing harsh elements, as stated by IMDb.
Beyond excelling as a tenacious survivor in reality TV shows, Danser also bravely fought breast cancer throughout her life. Her co-star on Naked and Afraid, Melissa Lauren, took to Facebook to share her condolences following Danser’s passing.
Lauren said, “Sarah had a way of seeing the world like a child, marveling at things we often overlook. May you find peace, Sarah; I believe you’re off on another grand adventure somewhere.
At Island Divers Hawaii, where Danser was an employee, they paid tribute to their late captain on Facebook by posting a happy photo of her. In the post, the company expressed their sorrow as they bid farewell to a cherished friend and exceptional captain. Sarah always brought joy and positive energy to everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed.
