As a seasoned gamer with years of dice-rolling and character creation under my belt, I can wholeheartedly vouch for the magic that is “The Legend of Vox Machina” and “Critical Role”. Having watched the animated series on Prime Video since its inception, I was overjoyed when they announced a fourth season. The show has become an integral part of my weekly routine, offering a much-needed escape into a world filled with action, heart, and, of course, dragons.
The tale of Vox Machina has flourished ever since its debut on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. Interestingly enough, Amazon has recently announced that the series will return for a fourth season. Inspired by the highly successful actual-play tabletop roleplaying series Critical Role, this animated fantasy adventure is filled with action, emotion, and mysticism. Oh, and did I mention dragons? For those who can’t get enough of the Vox Machina gang, here’s where you can catch Campaign One of the original Critical Role series.
Initially, a group of voice actor pals got together to play Dungeons & Dragons, which later evolved into what we now know as Critical Role. In 2015, Geek & Sundry began broadcasting their tabletop adventures. At that moment, they were deep into their first campaign, where the renowned group Vox Machina (consisting of Vex’ahlia played by Laura Bailey, Vax’ildan by Liam O’Brien, Keyleth by Marisha Ray, Pike by Ashley Johnson, Grog by Travis Willingham, Percy by Taliesin Jaffe, and Scanlan by Sam Riegel) were the main characters. Matthew Mercer has been overseeing all Critical Role games since then.
