Disney Removes ‘Blade’ from Release Schedule, Announces New Dates for 2028 Releases

As a seasoned gamer of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) lore and a devout fan of Eric Brooks, also known as Blade, the latest news about the reboot has left me feeling like I’ve just been hit by one of those pesky vampires he so skillfully slays.

The upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot has faced significant obstacles long before the recent SAG-AFTRA strikes. This Marvel Cinematic Universe film focuses on the iconic vampire hunter, Eric Brooks, and aims to revive the adored ‘Blade’ trilogy that significantly influenced the current shape of the MCU.

Ever since Mahershala Ali first proposed the idea and secured the role of Blade back in 2018, this project has been grappling with continuous script challenges and has experienced a variety of shifts in both writers and directors throughout its production process.

According to various sources, Mahershala Ali’s involvement in the ‘Blade’ reboot may be causing some difficulties, although it’s also been indicated that problems lie with the storyline and screenplay. Previously, we shared news that a verdict on the fate of both the ‘Blade’ project and the problematic ‘Armor Wars’ film was expected from the studio within a few weeks.

It seems that the long-awaited day has come, yet it fails to deliver positive updates for the struggling reboot. As reported by THR, the film ‘Blade’ has been taken off Disney‘s official release schedule, where it was previously planned to launch on November 7, 2025.

It seems the release of this movie has encountered numerous postponements, and the latest one might stretch on indefinitely. The initial November 7 slot is now occupied by ‘Predator: Badlands.’ Based on recent inside chatter and gossip, it appears more and more doubtful that we’ll ever get to see this film on the big screen.

On a positive note, Disney has unveiled some exciting news for Marvel fans! They’ve set release dates for three unnamed Marvel movies in 2028: February 18, May 5, and November 10. It’s speculated that one of these could be the ‘X-Men’ reboot, but specifics are still under wraps. What we do know is that Michael Lesslie has been appointed to pen the script for this project.

Among these unnamed productions, it’s speculated that one will become the ‘Young Avengers’ movie, a project that has been whispered about ever since the debut of ‘The Marvels.’ In this film, Kamala Khan is thought to be setting the stage for the upcoming team of young Avengers.

Regarding ‘Blade’, it’s being buzzed that Marvel Studios is speeding up their plans for the ‘Midnight Sons’ series. Though ‘Blade’ might temporarily step aside, there’s a chance he could reappear in the MCU as part of ‘Midnight Sons’.
