Tom Felton was already a fan of the thriller genre, so when he received the script for “They Will Kill You,” taking the role felt like a natural fit, according to the actor. In an interview with TopMob, he explained that his initial conversation with director Kirill Sokolov quickly turned into a lengthy discussion about movies, and he signed on to the project shortly after.
Tom Felton described working with a very enthusiastic and collaborative colleague, saying he was like a kid in a candy store, brimming with ideas. This person has a unique vision and isn’t afraid to experiment and ask for input to achieve it. Felton explained that this energy was infectious, greatly motivating both the cast and crew, along with the director Kirill’s own passion for filmmaking.
The 38-year-old actor admitted it wasn’t easy, explaining he often had to look up the director’s references. These weren’t mainstream movies, but rather lesser-known, independent films. He added that researching them actually sparked a new interest in filmmaking and helped him learn a lot.
Tom Felton, who played Kevin, a member of the film’s cult, praised his co-star Zazie Beetz, who plays the lead role, Asia Reaves. He was impressed by her dedication and ability to handle the physically demanding role. According to Felton, Beetz was amazing and took everything in stride, even after enduring intense scenes involving fights, barefoot running on rough terrain, and simulated injuries. He admitted he would have complained much sooner, but admired her respectful and resilient attitude on set.
The actor shared what made working on the film so enjoyable: his co-star’s combination of grace, dedication, and surprising versatility. He explained that it was amusing to chat about her everyday life – like her vacations or cooking – and then watch her perform intense action scenes moments later. He said it kept things interesting and made the set a fun place to be.
They Will Kill You drops in international theaters on March 27, 2026.
