As a longtime Green Lantern fan with over two decades of collecting comics and attending conventions under my belt, I must say, the latest developments regarding the upcoming Lanterns series have me both excited and intrigued. The prospect of Earth-bound murder mysteries and the involvement of heavyweights like Tom King and Damon Lindelof certainly pique my interest.

Following a mix of successful and less-than-ideal episodes, Max’s Lanterns series is gradually evolving into a well-regarded production that viewers might truly enjoy. Although it won’t be based in space like some fans had hoped – causing a bit of disappointment – the creators have hinted at a complex murder mystery reminiscent of True Detective, and that prospect is quite captivating.

It’s clear that both Hal Jordan and John Stewart, portrayed by Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre respectively, will take center stage. The narrative of this series seems to be setting up a means for the Green Lanterns to intertwine with the broader DC Universe down the line, as we also know Guy Gardner is part of the DCU.

Parallax might not appear in the form that most fans would like, but he could be either mentioned or appear in a smaller capacity, which would also be very, very interesting, as it would connect the Earth-based setting of Lanterns with the cosmic lore of the Green Lantern universe.
