‘We’ll Never Forget’: The Wanted Remembers Liam Payne’s Support After Tom Parker’s Death In Heartfelt Tribute

As a long-time follower and admirer of both The Wanted and One Direction, I find it incredibly heartbreaking to witness the tragic loss of Liam Payne. Having had the privilege of knowing these talented gentlemen through their music and public appearances, I can attest to the profound impact they’ve made on countless lives, including my own.

On October 16, 2024, The Wanted band members honored late One Direction member Liam Payne with a touching tribute, as he tragically passed away following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At their October 17 performance held at the Avalon Theatre in Canada, Max George, a band member from The Wanted, paid tribute to the late Payne by encouraging the crowd to observe a prolonged and emotional standing ovation which persisted for over a minute.

Yesterday, it was revealed some devastating news about someone we knew personally – Liam Payne, as George shared with the audience. Needless to say, it was incredibly distressing. His sentiments were recorded in a video circulated on X, where George expressed the band’s sorrow and offered his prayers for Payne’s loved ones and supporters.

During a challenging time for The Wanted, specifically when bandmate Tom Parker was fighting cancer, Max George recalled Payne’s assistance as well. Tragically, Parker passed away in 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.

George stated that Payne was the initial individual, as well as the first artist, who stepped forward to express interest in participating when the band arranged a fundraiser for Parker. He said, “He was the one who volunteered first among all artists.” We will always remember this act of kindness.

George emphasized that Payne played a crucial role in their band, not just through his involvement in the fundraiser, but also in other significant ways. He attended Tom’s funeral when others didn’t, and provided unwavering support to everyone during a difficult time, despite not having been particularly close friends prior to this.

He added that they knew each other until Tom died, and then they became friends. He really, truly encouraged them, and he said they will never forget that.

Apart from paying a public tribute during a performance, Max George also expressed his feelings on Instagram about the passing of Liam Payne. In a heartfelt message, George shared that the news was incredibly sad and spoke about the strong connection they had built over the years.

He wrote that he met Liam way back when 1D was on the X Factor. He added that over the last few years, he had the pleasure of getting to know him personally and spent some treasured time with him.

George’s post detailed how Liam had stood by him following the death of Tom Parker. He mentioned that Liam provided significant personal support after Tom passed, an act he would never forget. The post ended with a heartfelt message to Liam: “Rest in Peace, Liam. Lots of love, brother 🖤.
