As a lifelong fan who grew up with the original Karate Kid movies and spent countless hours practicing crane kicks and wax-on, wax-off in my backyard, I can hardly contain my excitement for Karate Kid: Legends! The recent poster release featuring Ben Wang as Li Fong, with Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han and Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso staring right at us, sent a chill down my spine.
The newest and eagerly awaited addition to the Karate Kid film series is called Karate Kid: Legends. To build anticipation further, Sony unveiled an official poster for the film. Remarkably, this recently revealed poster doesn’t just carry on one legacy but showcases two iconic figures from its movie franchise who are legendary in their own right.
On Twitter, under the Sony Pictures account, an outstanding and captivating poster featuring Ben Wang prominently was shared.
As a devoted fan, allow me to share some exciting news for those unaware: I, Wang, am stepping into the limelight as the new lead character, Li Fong, in our upcoming movie. My unique stance has caught the eye of the directors, and I’m eagerly poised to deliver an impactful blow against my adversary.
In this scene, as if you were looking straight into their eyes, Jackie Chan’s character, Mr. Han, and Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso are depicted in a cityscape under the sun.
Although the poster itself is incredibly exhilarating, causing shivers from head to toe, the accompanying caption further amps up our excitement.
“Legends are forever,” the words read in the caption that shared a release date.
“Karate Kid: Legends—exclusively in movie theatres May 30, 2025,” the caption further reads.
Legends” is the sixth part of a beloved and enduring franchise from Sony Pictures Entertainment. According to their statement, this movie marks the first time the two popular characters from the series, Chan and Macchio, will appear together on screen.
In this upcoming film, the creators of Cobra Kai have joined together two realms of the Miyagiverse, a term they themselves came up with.
In simpler terms, Miyagiverse refers to the collection of movies within the Karate Kid series where Pat Morita portrayed Mr. Miyagi. This universe encompasses not just the original films, but also the 2010 remake that showcased Jackie Chan’s skills, as well as Jaden Smith who made an appearance in a younger role.
The storyline of the upcoming Karate Kid: Legends film has not been fully revealed, but Sony Pictures has shared that it will revolve around Li Fong, a Chinese martial artist in training, who embarks on a journey to discover strength and purpose through martial arts under the guidance of one or more tough yet wise mentors. (as per CBR)
The upcoming movie isn’t just featuring Ralph Macchio, Jackie Chan, and Wang, but also includes Sadie Stanley in the cast, playing the role of Li Fong’s love interest.
The film also stars Joshua Jackson, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, along with Jennifer-Lyn Christie, according to the source.
The official statement also mentions that the film will be exclusively released in India soon.
