Dakota Culkin’s birthday trip turned into a frustrating experience when Alaska Airlines changed his family’s flight arrangements. Actress Brenda Song publicly shared her disappointment on Instagram, explaining that the airline gave away their pre-booked first-class seats the morning of their flight, despite having reservations made six months prior. This meant Song and her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, were separated from their sons, four-year-old Dakota and three-year-old Carson. Song expressed her anger, stating she would never fly with Alaska Airlines again and cautioned others to do the same.

Macaulay Culkin, famous for the classic Home Alone movies, immediately showed support for his partner by reposting her message. He playfully acknowledged the seriousness of the issue, writing, “Hell hath no fury as a Brenda scorned…” Their public complaint quickly caught the attention of Alaska Airlines, and a representative stated they found the situation unacceptable.
The airline has officially apologized, admitting the family’s travel experience didn’t live up to their standards. According to a spokesperson quoted by TMZ, they strive to be a preferred airline for families, understanding that travel can be difficult, especially with young children.
The airline says they’ve contacted the family to try and fix the problem and make things right. The public has largely sided with the couple, with many travelers voicing concerns about the airline’s policy of separating children from their parents.
Some people online joked about the situation, comparing it to the movie Home Alone. Despite the travel trouble, the family has been enjoying a positive and private start to the year.
Recently, musicians Song and Culkin made a splash in the Los Angeles housing market. They purchased a large $10.3 million home in Sherman Oaks in early March – it previously belonged to Avril Lavigne. The new property is much bigger than their last, with over 10,200 square feet of space and luxurious amenities like a resort-style pool, a private cinema, and a large recreation area.
Brenda Song continues to work consistently in movies and TV, currently starring in the Netflix series Running Point, which premiered in late 2025. She also appeared in the film Operation Taco Gary’s.
Macaulay Culkin has been busy as well, recently finishing a popular 14-city tour celebrating his past work. While he’s focused on being a father, he and Song recently made a stylish appearance together at the Golden Globe Awards in January.
Fans are still hoping for a new Home Alone movie, especially after some fan-made trailers went viral and renewed interest in the series this year.
