Beloved ‘iZombie’ and ‘Supernatural’ Star Passes Away at 51, Cause of Death Revealed

Carrie Anne Fleming, a Canadian actress who appeared in shows like iZombie and Supernatural, died on February 26th in Sidney, British Columbia, at the age of 51. According to Jim Beaver, her co-star on Supernatural, she passed away due to complications from breast cancer.

I’ve always been fascinated by actors and their journeys, and learning about Cobie Smulders is no different. She actually started out in Digby, Nova Scotia, born on August 16, 1974, but she spent her formative years growing up in British Columbia. While in Victoria, she went to Mount Douglas Senior Secondary and really honed her skills – she took drama classes at both the Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Kidco Theatre Dance Company, which clearly set her on the path to becoming the actress we know and love today.

She began her acting career with appearances on the TV show Viper and in the film Happy Gilmore, starring Adam Sandler. For several years, she took on smaller roles before landing a part in Dario Argento’s Masters of Horror in 2005. In the episode “Jenifer,” she played a physically disfigured woman who was also a cannibal. She went on to appear in other horror films and shows, including The Tooth Fairy and Bloodsuckers.

Fleming played Karen Singer, Bobby Singer’s wife, on the TV show Supernatural. She also appeared in the 2015 movie The Unauthorized Full House Story, where she played the mother of Candace Cameron Bure, who was known as DJ Tanner on Full House.

I’ll always remember Rose Fleming for her delightful portrayal of Candy Baker on iZombie. She was a consistent presence throughout all five seasons, and really brought a lot of heart to the show. But before that, and alongside her TV work, she was a true stage actress. I understand she spent a good amount of time performing in British Columbia, taking on roles in classics like Romeo and Juliet and Noises Off, as well as productions of Steel Magnolias and Fame. It’s clear she had a real passion for the theater.

Fleming is remembered by her daughter, Madalyn Rose, and her husband, Max. Details about a memorial service will be shared when they are finalized.
