Megan Thee Stallion talks her mother’s death & not having fun in new documentary

As a fan who’s followed Megan Thee Stallion‘s journey since her early days, I must say that the trailer for “In Her Words” has me both excited and emotional. It’s heart-wrenching to see such a powerful figure open up about her struggles, especially considering her meteoric rise to fame and the unfortunate events she’s faced.

Later this month, Megan Thee Stallion will debut a new documentary titled “In Her Words“. A trailer for the film was unveiled today, offering glimpses into the Houston rapper’s life, particularly focusing on her experiences following her mother’s passing and the shooting incident involving Tory Lanez in 2020.

Additionally, she expresses dissatisfaction with her profession, even though she’s a globally recognized rap artist.

Megan announced that she’s going to stop all her performances because she isn’t enjoying herself at the moment, and she doesn’t wish to continue. She also expressed, ‘How can I be Megan Thee Stallion if I’m not having fun?’

As I watched this docuseries, it seemed like some scenes were captured during Megan Thee Stallion’s rise to stardom. It might be that the subdued energy in those moments stemmed from her mother Holly Thomas’ passing due to cancer in 2019. Holly was a significant inspiration for Megan, being an artist herself, who encouraged Megan to pursue rapping.

In the words of the “Hiss” creator, “Music has been an integral part of my existence all along. My mother played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today. She embodied the spirit of a gangsta rapper, and as a young boy, I aspired to emulate her when I grew up. That ambition sparked the genesis of Megan Thee Stallion within me. At that moment, I experienced my greatest joy.

Megan later expressed that her mother’s passing left her feeling disorganized and confused, causing her to lose sight of herself. Essentially, she stated that when life became overwhelming, she no longer had her mother’s support. It appears that the “chaos” Megan referred to wasn’t only linked to Tory shooting her, but also the criticism she faced afterward.

This is due to the fact that many individuals alleged Megan had lied about the shooting incident, despite the fact that Tory was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison for it back in December 2022.

In Her Words, created by Amazon MGM Studios, will debut on October 31, on Amazon Prime.
