The Monkey TEASER Out: What Happens When Twins Hal And Bill Encounter A Cursed Toy? Watch

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for the macabre and a vast knowledge of horror cinema, I must say that the trailer for “The Monkey” has piqued my interest immensely. Having delved into Stephen King’s works and witnessed Osgood Perkins’ previous directorial efforts, I am confident that this film will be a chilling experience.

A trailer has come out for the supernatural horror film titled The Monkey, which is based on Stephen King’s short story with the same name. This movie stars Theo James from “The White Lotus,” and it is directed by Osgood Perkins, who is recognized for his work on “Longlegs.” The plot centers around twin brothers Bill and Hal, who encounter a string of frightening incidents after finding an abandoned monkey toy in their father’s attic.

Following a string of grim fatalities, the siblings decide to let go of their plaything and continue with their respective journeys, yet the repercussions persist. Besides James, who plays twin characters Bill and Hal, the ensemble also features Tatiana Maslany, known for She-Hulk, Elijah Wood, Laura Mennell, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Corin Clark, and Sarah Levy from Schitt’s Creek.

The trailer opens with a hint of a cursed monkey figurine, as an unnamed narrator remarks, “For a long while, nothing existed, then suddenly, a creature that didn’t belong on our planet appeared.” The one who controls the toy has the power to decide life and death. Whenever this strange toy strikes individuals who may or may not deserve it, the consequences are always grisly and disturbing.

Intriguing scenes flash by in the trailer, such as a woman escaping with a flaming stroller, a girl oozing blood from her eyes, an individual sporting a flaming head, and finally, James discovering a broken toe in his mouth. At one point, when a voice queries, “Is everything alright up there?”, James responds nonchalantly, “Yes, everything’s perfectly fine,” even though he’s dripping with blood and clutching the toe.

Perkins is recognized for creating gripping movies, particularly in the horror category. His latest contribution to this genre was the 2020 release Gretel & Hansel, followed by Longlegs, which hit theaters on July 12, 2024. Additionally, Perkins contributes to the scriptwriting of The Monkey, with James Wan, Michael Clear, Dave Caplan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Chris Ferguson serving as producers for this project.

On February 21, 2025, the movie, crafted by the co-producer of popular horror films such as Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, Annabelle, The Nun, and M3GAN, will hit the big screen.
