CREATURE COMMANDOS Bringing Interactive Belle Reve Prison Fan Experience to NYCC

As a die-hard DC fan with years of comic book lore etched into my memory, I can hardly contain my excitement for this year’s New York Comic Con! The Creature Commandos, a ragtag team of monsters and misfits, are about to take center stage in the DC Universe, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

The DCU is set to make its grand entrance, and instead of Superman or Batman leading the way, it’ll be a band of misfits called the Creature Commandos who kick off Warner Bros. Discovery’s exciting new superhero series. James Gunn’s animated show premieres on Max on December 5, but fans won’t have to wait that long to see what this unusual monster squad has in store. They can get a sneak peek of it this week! TopMob has exclusive details about the DC Universe’s plans for New York Comic Con 2024. An interactive Creature Commandos fan experience will allow visitors to step inside Belle Reve Prison.

From October 17th to 20th (Thursday through Sunday), if you’re attending New York Comic Con at the Javits Center, make sure to stroll over to Booth #4327. Warner Bros. is turning this location into the notorious Belle Reve Prison. This maximum-security prison has been home to some of DC Comics’ most dangerous characters. In the new DC Universe, it will serve as Amanda Waller’s base where she keeps dangerous beings for Suicide Squad-type missions.

Thankfully, NYCC attendees won’t find themselves incarcerated at Belle Reve Prison for the weekend. Instead, they’ll be enlisted into Task Force M, allowing them to freely immerse themselves in the exhibit’s interactive activities. This includes a unique AR photo opportunity with the series’ main characters. The booth will also offer exclusive merchandise such as character-themed dog tags and military-style water bottles. Moreover, those who arrive when the event kicks off on Thursday will receive an additional treat. The first 100 attendees will get a poster showcasing new artwork for the upcoming series, which Warner Bros. will unveil on Wednesday.

In a statement, Pia Barlow, Executive Vice President of Originals Marketing at HBO and Max, explained that the activation for the “Creature Commandos” is intended to fully immerse fans into the series’ world, particularly by vividly recreating the famous Belle Reve prison facility. This sneak peek offers a tantalizing glimpse of what the DC universe being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran will entail.

Warner Bros. Discovery is planning more than just interactive events to celebrate the debut of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. They’ve also arranged a star-filled panel for the upcoming Creature Commandos, featuring the likes of James Gunn, Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), David Harbour (Frankenstein), Zoe Chao (Nina Mazursky), Sean Gunn (G.I. Robot and Weasel), Maria Bakalova (Princess Ilana), Steve Agee (Economos), and executive producer Dean Lorey. Additionally, they’ll be unveiling a brand-new trailer for the show during this panel.

Following that, we’ll need to hold on until December to get our hands on more “Creature Commandos”. Although it’s likely that not all of these creatures will make it while working for Amanda Waller (it rarely happens!), their impact will live on. They will always be remembered as part of the DCU’s beginning.

Same as those who enter NYCC’s Belle Reve Prison activation.
