In December 2020, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled the lineup for Phase Four during Disney Investors Day. Among the projects revealed were two series connected to the deceased Tony Stark. Initially, these projects, Ironheart and Armor Wars, were planned as Disney+ series. However, in September 2022, Marvel decided to change Armor Wars from a series into a feature film. This movie will center on Tony Stark’s friend, James Rhodes, also known as War Machine, with Don Cheadle set to reprise his role as Rhodey.
As of late, it appears that the Armor Wars may still be a ways off, according to recent comments by Don Cheadle. In an interview with TVLine, when asked for updates on Armor Wars, Cheadle suggested that we should keep tabs and inquire further. In his words, “I’m not entirely certain about the status at this moment… Things seem to be undergoing changes, and we’ll have to wait and see what unfolds.
If the movie “Armor Wars” ever comes out, Cheadle anticipates that Rhodey’s Skrull secret from “Secret Invasion” could be explored in that film. It’s also possible that we will encounter him in the upcoming movie “Ironheart,” which is scheduled to debut in 2025.

Comedian and author Yassir Lester is set to serve as the main writer for the show, even as it transitions from a television series to a movie. As per the recent announcement, Marvel Studios seems determined to tell this story effectively, and in doing so, they discovered that a film would be more fitting for the project.
