First Plot Details for the Upcoming ‘Lanterns’ Show Reportedly Surface Online

As a seasoned gamer and a die-hard DC fan with over two decades of comic book history under my belt, I must say that I’m finding myself torn between excitement and apprehension regarding the upcoming series, Lanterns. On one hand, the idea of seeing Hal Jordan and John Stewart on our screens is tantalizing, especially with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre in the roles. On the other, the plot details seem to be taking a rather unexpected turn away from the cosmic adventures I had envisioned.

Although there’s been plenty of debate about the series, Lanterns seems to be gradually gaining traction as an exciting series that fans eagerly await. Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the program might become a success for the DCU, continuing the momentum set by The Penguin, which while not technically part of the official DCU, is a successful DC Comics show.

Recently, our knowledge about the show was limited to just a few details: it was an Earth-set murder mystery akin to True Detective, and it would star Hal Jordan and John Stewart as the Lanterns. However, after the commotion surrounding the casting of Hal Jordan, we now know who will portray both Lanterns – Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.

Based on recent developments, there have been intriguing plot details for the “Lanterns” TV series leaked on a popular platform, and these hint that the show will indeed follow in the footsteps of “True Detective” as a complex mystery series if the information can be trusted.

Initially, the buzz surrounding the Lanterns series was enormous, but the speculation and tidbits we heard previously only led to one letdown after another. For instance, fans were taken aback when they learned that it would be an Earth-bound series, contrary to their expectations of a cosmic exploration within the franchise’s scope. Although learning that it would emulate the mystery style of True Detective offered some consolation, the fanbase remained largely disheartened.

Eventually, it emerged that Josh Brolin would portray an older version of Hal Jordan, however, shortly after, Brolin himself debunked the rumor of him accepting the role. Prior to Kyle Chandler officially being cast as Hal Jordan, numerous other celebrities were speculated for the part, which left many fans disheartened. Although Aaron Pierre’s casting as John Stewart provided some clarity, the audience remained somewhat puzzled about the show.

Now that our primary characters and some key cast members have been finalized, there’s been buzz about the initial plot details for the series from a reliable source.

From my perspective as a captivated viewer, here’s how I’d put it:

Essentially, this seems to align with our existing understanding of the series, and it appears that the creators are aiming for a show reminiscent of “True Detective.” Here’s how some fans have responded to this news:

Pretty confused as to why this isn’t space cops fighting space bad guys but uh…I’ll wait and see.

There seems to be little regard for Hal Jordan; after all, he’s older than Batman and James Gunn didn’t even announce his casting. I can’t help but feel that this character, with one of the most renowned stories in the comic book world, deserves more recognition. It’s baffling how Hal Jordan is significantly older than everyone else, yet he’s not receiving the respect he deserves.
