I can still remember the thrill of watching the original movies for the first time, the laughter at the witty banter between the characters, and the sheer joy of seeing ghosts being captured with proton packs.
For several decades, Ghostbusters has been a cherished franchise by many. However, its more recent installments have garnered both praise and criticism from critics and fans alike. Ever since the introduction of the latest Ghostbusters era, there’s been much buzz and speculation about the future of this franchise, as various concepts are being developed.
Lately, during an interview with The Direct, filmmaker Gil Kenan – known for his work on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – shared some exciting upcoming projects he has planned.
According to Gil Kenan, it’s confirmed that we will certainly carry on discussing and potentially create more grand Ghostbusters tales for the big screen.
During their discussion, the director also mentioned that they, together with Jason Reitman (associated with the Netflix animated spin-off), aim to maintain the “Ghostbusters” spirit burning brightly for several more years.
The renowned filmmaker, known for hits like Monster House, confidently shared that we can expect further big-screen Ghostbusters tales to unfold. Keep an eye out; there’s more to come on this exciting topic at a later time.
Kenan also spoke of the recently announced animated Ghostbusters project, teasing that the series would tell several Ghostbusters stories that people love a lot.
Gil Kenan shared that he’s currently engaged in a Netflix project, and his enthusiasm for it is palpable.
As a dedicated follower, I can share that according to the filmmaker’s updates, I am closely monitoring the progress of Jason Reitman’s Netflix animated Ghostbusters series on a daily basis. My focus is ensuring that the storyline remains both thrilling and enjoyable, maintaining an element of fun throughout.
Following the less popular 2016 release of Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, Sony decided to revisit the classic storyline featuring the much-admired cast from the 1980s.
Since Ivan Reitman, Jason’s father and director of the first two Ghostbusters movies, as well as the producer for all the installments, passed away, his son was brought in to take over following the collapse of Paul Feig’s project.
Jason amassed the vintage cast, including some cherished spirits, as well as a conspicuous vehicle, all from timeless films.
Meanwhile, the director also came up with stories having direct ties to the Spengler family.
This year on March 22, the newly released film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire raked in more than $200 million at the box office.
