Hilary Duff shared a funny story about a quirky family tradition she and her kids have developed – a playful game they jokingly refer to as the “disgusting food game.” It’s become a regular, lighthearted activity in their household.
Duff Goldman recently discussed the game on the Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals podcast with Josh Scherer. She was jokingly called the game’s creator during the interview and went along with it.
The game began with her 13-year-old son, Luca, and his friends. They each grabbed random ingredients from the kitchen and combined them to create the worst-tasting bite they could imagine. The goal? To eat it without showing any reaction!
Duff explained the competition centers around endurance. Contestants create the most disgusting food they can imagine and then try to eat what the others make. The goal is to be the last one who hasn’t thrown up. As Duff put it, if you spit anything out, you lose!
She explained that the food combinations are intentionally designed to be very unusual. The aim is to surprise and even shock the diner with unexpected textures and bold, uncommon flavors. Ultimately, she said the goal is to make something so unappetizing that it’s difficult for someone to eat it all.
During the interview, Duff played a game with the host where they created unique food combinations using a variety of ingredients, including some surprising ones. They quickly tasted the combinations and tried to guess the ingredients.
I couldn’t believe what happened! Duff was trying to figure out what she was tasting and guessed things like fish and something sweet. Then she found out one of the bites actually contained crickets, and her reaction was intense. She immediately exclaimed, “You are such an a! There are so many crickets in my mouth!” It was pretty shocking to watch, honestly.
Despite the surprising and unusual pairings, Duff remained cheerful and enjoyed the whole thing, even saying she’d consider participating again.
I’m a big fan of Hayley Duff, and it’s amazing how she balances everything! She’s a mom to four wonderful kids – Luca, Banks, Mae, and her youngest, who she shares with her husband, Matthew Koma. It’s inspiring to see her succeed both on and off screen.
This family enjoys a peculiar, but ultimately safe, pastime. It’s a reminder that families connect in all sorts of unique ways, even with activities that might seem a little unusual. We’d love to hear what you think – share your thoughts in the comments below!
