As a dedicated fan who has grown up with Finn Wolfhard‘s captivating performances, I can confidently say that this young talent is well on his way to becoming the “scream king.” From his chilling portrayal of Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things to his spine-tingling roles in The Turning and It Chapters 1 and 2, Wolfhard has proven time and again that he can masterfully navigate the horror/thriller genre.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Ever since my chilling performances in Stranger Things and Ghostbusters, people have been labeling me the “Scream King.” In a recent heart-to-heart with PEOPLE, I opened up about my latest roles that send shivers down spines, such as The Turning, The Addams Family, and both chapters of It.
When asked if he might be labeled as the “Scream King,” which is similar to the “Scream Queen” title given to prominent actresses in horror/thriller films like Jamie Lee Curtis, Neve Campbell, or Jenna Ortega, Wolfhard replied, “That’s an incredibly flattering comment.
The actor expressed that he hadn’t been called a ‘scream queen/king’ before this moment, and he found it genuinely pleasant. Yet, he admitted that his limited work in the horror genre doesn’t quite warrant such a title at present. Reflecting on the requirements for being labeled as a ‘scream queen/king’, he acknowledged it was indeed a nice compliment.
As per Wolfhard, it seems his fondness for Halloween and the spooky season could possibly be the reason behind his role choices. He reminisced about the delightful moments when his mother crafted costumes for him during his childhood, making it a truly enjoyable experience.
“Halloween is definitely one of my favorite days of the year,” he added. He also admitted to enjoying exploring the fearful side of the human psyche, noting, “You’ve got to just allow yourself to be scared.”
The actor known for his role in The Goldfinch has recently teamed up with Ring, a business specializing in home security and advanced home devices, on their Great Ghost Search initiative. In this collaboration, Ring encourages its users (who own video doorbells, cameras, alarm systems, smart lighting, etc.) to scan their recorded footage for any signs of ghostly activity.
Individuals who share authentic paranormal videos for the contest can potentially claim a significant monetary reward. Wolfhard, fortunate to collaborate with Ring, is assisting in locating the most terrifying or eerie footage across the country.
