In another post, the singer revealed plans to debut a concert film titled “For Friends and Family Only” on November 13, preceding the release of his upcoming LP. Mendes expressed in an Instagram post, accompanied by a sneak peek from the movie, that this was his first performance of the album and his return to the stage after two years. He added that it was a special experience he wanted his fans to be a part of.
In the video, the performer speaks to his audience from the stage, expressing that he feels unusually serene when entertaining them, a feeling he can’t quite explain. At the end of the clip, he extends his gratitude to the crowd for attending one of his concerts.
As per the plot summary, the movie was shot at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York. This concert film offers viewers a unique, up-close perspective on Mendes’ musical evolution, revealing the creative process that shaped his music and the inspirations, as well as personal tales, behind each track from his upcoming album.
On July 31st, Mendes unveiled details about his fifth studio album, and since then, he has shared several tracks such as “Nobody Knows”, “Why Why Why”, and “Isn’t That Enough”. When the project was initially announced, a press statement highlighted that this album represents Mendes’ most personal and truthful musical and lyrical work to date.
Mendes shared some behind-the-scenes details about the album production on Instagram as well. He mentioned that going back to the studio following a prolonged hiatus aimed at safeguarding his mental wellness was therapeutic in every aspect, and he feels immensely satisfied with the 12 polished tracks he managed to create.
