This weekend, Peacock has a wide variety of movies and shows to choose from, including new musical adaptations, classic animated comedies, and recently added action thrillers, historical dramas, and documentaries. You’ll find both brand new releases from 2025 and familiar favorites, offering something for everyone – from family-friendly entertainment to more intense horror options.
‘Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked’ (2024)

Go behind the scenes of the ‘Wicked’ movie with this special documentary. Hosted by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, and featuring Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum, it shows how the film was made and how the magical world of Oz was brought to life. It also celebrates the iconic performances and music from the original ‘Wicked’ stage show. The documentary will be available to stream on March 20th.
‘Wicked: For Good’ (2025)

This movie is the second part of the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Directed by Jon M. Chu, it continues the story of Elphaba and Glinda as they become the iconic figures of Oz. Starring Cynthia Erivo as the Wicked Witch of the West and Ariana Grande as Glinda, with Jeff Goldblum also in the cast, the film wraps up the complicated friendship and political struggles introduced in the first movie. It will be available to stream starting March 20th.
‘Hamnet’ (2025)

Okay, so I just finished watching ‘Hamnet,’ and it’s really stuck with me. It’s a beautiful, but heartbreaking, film about William Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet, and how devastating his death was for the whole family. It doesn’t focus on the famous plays themselves, but on the people behind them, and how that loss shaped Shakespeare’s writing. It gives you a really intimate look at what his home life was like during a tough time in history. Honestly, it feels like you’re getting a peek behind the curtain to see where the inspiration for one of the greatest tragedies ever written actually came from. You can stream it now, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something moving and thoughtful.
‘Song Sung Blue’ (2025)

This film is a musical story about two musicians in Milwaukee who team up to create a tribute band to Neil Diamond. Starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, and directed by Craig Gillespie, the movie follows their adventures as they navigate the local music world and overcome personal obstacles while chasing their dreams. It combines live musical numbers with a heartwarming story about perseverance and commitment to art, and is currently streaming on Peacock.
‘The Beekeeper’ (2024)

This action thriller centers on a former spy who comes out of retirement to seek revenge after his neighbor is cheated in a financial scam. The story reveals the inner workings of a secret group called the Beekeepers and showcases the hero’s unique abilities. Expect plenty of intense action as he takes the law into his own hands to hold those responsible accountable. You can now watch it online.
‘Madagascar’ (2005)

When four spoiled zoo animals—a lion named Alex, a zebra named Marty, a giraffe named Melman, and a hippo named Gloria—get stranded on the island of Madagascar, they have to adjust to life in the wild for the very first time. They meet a quirky group of lemurs ruled by King Julien, and the story follows their adventures as they navigate this new world. The movie is a fun look at friendship and what happens when animals used to a comfortable life are thrown into the natural world, and you can currently watch it on streaming platforms.
‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ (2008)

This new movie follows the zoo animals as they try to get back to New York City, but they accidentally end up in Africa. There, they meet animals of their own kind – including Alex’s parents! As they learn about where they come from, the group has to figure out how to fit into the wild and protect their new home. The movie builds on the story we already know while still focusing on the strong friendship between the main characters. You can stream this animated adventure now.
‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ (2012)

Our animal heroes are on their way back to New York, and this time they’re traveling through Europe disguised as a small circus. Joining the circus lets them hide from a determined French animal control officer who’s chasing them. Along the way, they meet new animal performers, and the story includes exciting scenes set in famous European cities. This third movie continues their adventurous journey home and is now available for streaming.
‘Ted’ (2012)

The movie starts with a boy whose childhood wish magically brings his teddy bear to life, and the two become best friends. Years later, John Bennett discovers his now-adult, mischievous, and pleasure-seeking bear is making it hard to build a serious relationship. The film is a funny look at how holding onto childhood friendships can clash with the demands of being an adult. It blends real actors with animated scenes to show how the bear experiences the world, and you can watch it now on the streaming service.
‘Friday the 13th Part 2’ (1981)

This horror sequel revisits the infamous Crystal Lake, where a fresh group of camp counselors are training for the summer. One by one, they become the targets of a hidden killer lurking in the woods. The film delves deeper into the series’ backstory, revealing a powerful enemy driven by revenge. It’s also known for setting many of the conventions seen in slasher movies of the 1980s, and is available to stream this weekend.
