Behold, gentle readers, a spectacle most diverting! The company Celsius Holdings ([CELH 2.70%]), purveyor of a beverage promising vigor and, it seems, boundless investor enthusiasm, has concluded the year 2025 with a flourish. Sales ascended by a remarkable 117% in the final quarter, and a not-unimpressive 86% for the annum. Yet, as with all stagecraft, the true drama lies not in the headline numbers, but in the subtle machinations beneath the surface. A closer examination reveals a tale of ambition, dependence, and a rather precarious reliance on the benevolence of giants.
Act I: The North American Dominion
The principal scene of this comedy is, for the present, North America. Here, Celsius has established a firm foothold, a circumstance owing much to the patronage of PepsiCo ([PEP 0.18%]). PepsiCo, a colossus in the realm of refreshment, has not merely invested in Celsius, but has undertaken the distribution of its potions across the United States and Canada. A most convenient arrangement, one might observe, though hardly one built on equal footing. In the year 2025, North American sales swelled by 89%, a crescendo reaching 124% in the final quarter. Furthermore, a curious exchange transpired: PepsiCo ceded to Celsius the rights to the Rockstar energy drink within North America, whilst simultaneously inducting Celsius’s Alani Nu brand into the PepsiCo distribution network. Thus, Celsius finds itself declared PepsiCo’s “strategic energy lead” in these lands – a title perhaps more suggestive of vassalage than leadership.
Act II: The International Gambit
This dependence on a single benefactor, however, has spurred Celsius to cast its gaze further afield. Liberated, as it were, from the immediate demands of the North American market by the aforementioned arrangement, the company now attempts an expansion into the less-charted territories of the international sphere. Beverage sales abroad increased by a modest 9% in the last quarter of 2025, and a somewhat more encouraging 24% for the year. A former executive of PepsiCo has been recruited to oversee this endeavor – a move that, while prudent, hardly disguises the continuing reliance on the wisdom of the established order. Spain, it is reported, has recently been added to the company’s map – a small step, but a step nonetheless. Yet, let us not mistake nine million dollars in international sales for a kingdom. Compared to the two and a half billion dollars garnered from North America, it is but a trifling sum.
The growth potential, of course, remains. As Celsius extends its reach into new markets and strengthens its presence in existing ones, a material increase in revenue is certainly plausible. However, one must ask: is this a tale of genuine expansion, or merely a clever diversion, a means of appearing more robust whilst remaining tethered to the apron strings of a larger power?
Act III: The Price of Enthusiasm
Celsius, therefore, presents a compelling, if somewhat precarious, narrative. Supported by PepsiCo’s distribution network and venturing cautiously into foreign lands, it has captivated the imaginations of investors. This enthusiasm, however, has manifested in a price-to-earnings ratio of a rather extravagant 175. Such valuations are the province of the boldest speculators, those willing to wager on the improbable. For the discerning investor, a careful scrutiny of the international business is warranted. It is here, in this fledgling endeavor, that the true potential – and the true risks – of Celsius may ultimately reside. For if this company is to transcend its current state of dependence, it must prove that it can thrive not as a satellite, but as a star in its own right.
