Stephen Amell (44) Spotted Shirtless Filming Baywatch Reboot Scenes in LA

Stephen Amell, 44, recently looked incredibly fit while filming the new Baywatch series. On Thursday, March 19th, he was seen on the beaches of Malibu and Venice wearing the show’s iconic red swimsuit.

A large crowd gathered on set when Stephen Amell arrived, looking every bit the experienced lifeguard captain he plays in the show’s reboot. He was joined by a talented group of co-stars who are working to bring this classic beach drama to a new generation of viewers.

Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, and Jessica Belkin were spotted filming on the beach, often switching between their lifeguard costumes and casual clothes. Social media personalities Hannah Stocking and Livvy Dunne were also present, making it clear the project features a mix of established actors and internet stars.

The new version of the show aims to recapture the spirit of the original Baywatch while feeling modern. According to Variety, the story centers on Hobie Buchannon (played by Amell), the rebellious character fans remember, who has grown up to become a Baywatch captain, just like his famous father, Mitch.

The story takes a personal turn for the main character, who is juggling work with surprising changes in his family life. Things get complicated when Charlie, a daughter he didn’t know existed, appears and wants to connect with her family’s history.

Jessica Belkin stars as Charlie Vale, with Thaddeus LaGrone playing Brad and Noah Beck as Luke. Shay Mitchell joins the cast as Trina, and Livvy Dunne will play Grace, all as part of the show’s competitive lifeguard team.

Fans of the original series will be happy to hear that Cody Madison returns, keeping the reboot connected to its history. He now owns and operates The Shoreline, a popular bar and grill, but still occasionally jumps in to help with rescues as a lifeguard – and still wears the iconic red shorts!

The show combines exciting action with a strong mentorship element. The team frequently gathers at a local bar, which acts as a safe haven and second home. The bar owner is like a father figure to the lifeguards, offering guidance and friendship – and always treats them to free wings when they successfully complete a rescue.

As a huge TV fan, I’m excited to share that Fox greenlit this series! They ordered a full 12 episodes back in September 2025, and we’re finally going to see it hit the airwaves during the 2026-2027 season. From what I hear, it’s going to be a fast-paced, action-packed show with lots of daring rescues, and the whole thing is set in beautiful, sunny California. Sounds perfect for a prime-time binge!

I was really excited to hear about Stephen Amell taking on this new project! He was fantastic in Suits: L.A., playing the lead, Ted Black. That show proved he can definitely carry a big network series and really established him as a leading man. It was great seeing him expand the world of Suits like that, and it makes me confident he’ll do amazing things here too.

Before landing several recent TV roles, Stephen Amell was famous for playing Oliver Queen in the popular superhero show Arrow for eight seasons. His commitment to the physical demands of that role prepared him well for the challenging, action-packed world of a lifeguard drama.

I’m a huge fan, and it’s awesome to see what Stephen Amell is up to! He’s been working on Code 8: Part II, which he not only starred in but also produced with his cousin, Robbie Amell. It’s really cool how he always does his own stunts and stays in incredible shape for his roles – it’s a big part of what I enjoy about his work.

Shay Mitchell is still well-known thanks to her popular role in Pretty Little Liars and her work on You. Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne are part of a new generation of stars who are transitioning from being famous on social media to acting in TV shows.

This reboot represents a major financial commitment from Fox, hoping to leverage a well-known franchise and its existing worldwide fans. Casting Amell as the older version of a beloved character is a strategy to appeal to both longtime viewers and a new, younger audience.

Filming is underway on the revival of the iconic beachside series across Southern California, and excitement is building. The new version aims to capture the carefree spirit of the original while adding modern storylines and challenges.
