Production on the fifth season of Hulu’s reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has temporarily stopped after accusations of domestic violence surfaced involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen, according to reports from People and TMZ.
Police in Draper City are investigating a reported domestic assault involving Taylor and Dakota. Both individuals have made claims to police, who made contact with them on February 24th and 25th.
According to a source, production has been paused. Taylor Swift is dealing with some personal issues related to her past, and filming will remain on hold until those are resolved.
I was so excited to see the latest season of Mormon Wives just wrapped up, and now I’m even more thrilled for Taylor! She’s about to become the next Bachelorette, which is amazing because she’s the first lead who hasn’t been on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette before. It’s a really fresh and exciting choice for the show, and I can’t wait to watch her journey!
Taylor was arrested for domestic violence in February 2023 involving his partner, Mortensen, an incident that was shown on the first season of the show Mormon Wives. Taylor and Mortensen have a child together, Ever True, who was born in March 2024. Taylor also has two children from a previous relationship.
TMZ has released video from a 2023 incident showing Taylor allegedly physically attacking someone named Mortensen. The video captures a heated fight where Taylor is seen throwing things. A child was nearby and reportedly suffered a small bump on the head, described in the police report as a minor injury.
Taylor admitted guilt to a serious assault charge and was sentenced to three years of probation, concluding in August. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, four other charges – including domestic violence witnessed by a child, child abuse, and property damage – were dismissed.
Utah’s Child and Family Services is investigating claims of violence between Taylor and Dakota. Both individuals are required to undergo psychological assessments. Taylor’s representative responded to Dakota’s release of an old, edited video on their son’s birthday, calling it a dishonest attempt to divert attention from Dakota’s own actions and noting that the public is aware of this pattern of behavior.
Taylor Frankie Paul physically attacked Dakota Mortensen multiple times in 2023, leading to a guilty plea for aggravated assault. Video footage shows that during the altercation, one of Paul’s children was also hit. Please be aware this content may be disturbing.

Problems on the set of Mormon Wives have reportedly created friction among the cast, leading some to stop filming until things are worked out. Hulu hasn’t said anything about the production pause, and ABC hasn’t responded to questions about Taylor’s planned appearance on The Bachelorette.
This situation creates more public debate around Taylor, particularly as she’s about to host a prominent reality show.
