“They Shouldn’t Have Let You Cook Man”: Todd Phillips Confirms James Gunn Was Not Involved With ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Production

As a long-time fan who has witnessed the highs and lows of DC’s cinematic universe, I must admit that my expectations for “Joker: Folie à Deux” were sky-high, given the success of its predecessor. However, after watching this musical mess, I can’t help but feel like they shouldn’t have let Todd Phillips cook this dish. The film is a disastrous attempt at blending genres that leaves me longing for the days of Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

Yesterday saw the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which was met with largely unfavorable reviews by both critics and fans. The movie earned a “D” CinemaScore, making it the lowest-rated superhero film in history. Currently, on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an abysmal 33% approval rating from both professionals and viewers alike.

It’s quite disconcerting to find that each time I look at the scores, they appear to be plummeting even more, leading many to label it as “officially rotten.” The cinematic future seems grim for this movie, as its pre-release earnings amounted to a mere $7 million, a disappointing figure when compared to the first installment and considering that the budget for this sequel is reportedly triple that of the original, now standing at an estimated $200 million.

As a passionate gamer diving into a challenging new level, I’ve found myself grappling with a game that’s got an intriguing concept but a plotline that’s as confusing as a labyrinth. Despite the developers assuring us it isn’t a puzzle game, its complex mechanics and elusive solutions make it feel like one. Regrettably, I’m yet to unravel the secrets it holds, and time is running out.

As James Gunn and Peter Safran hold co-CEO positions at DC Studios, it’s typically assumed they would play a role in every movie related to DC produced by Warner Bros. Remarkably, this wasn’t the situation with Joker: Folie à Deux.

In a slightly self-assured tone, Phillips clarified that James Gunn wasn’t involved in the movie. He emphasized that the current leader of DC Studios hadn’t influenced the project whatsoever, since the film was more in line with a Warner Bros. production rather than a typical DC one.

In essence, I’d like to acknowledge the esteem in which I hold [Gunn and Safran]; however, the approach here seems reminiscent of a Warner Brothers production, implying their desire for a style akin to, “Alright, let Todd carry on with his unique style.

It seems that Silver indicated that the movie had started being produced earlier, before Gunn and Safran took on their roles as co-heads at DC Studios. This implies that the project for Folie à Deux may have been underway even before the establishment of the new department.

It’s clear that “Joker: Folie à Deux” doesn’t align with the DC Universe or the crime saga world that Matt Reeves is carefully constructing for Batman. This fact has been a relief to fans, and it certainly eases our minds as well.

I’m sensing pride. Even arrogance.

It’s obvious Gunn had zero input. The movie is a monumental turd

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment when considering the potential ratings for “Joker: Folie à Deux.” The survey results show that a mere 27% of respondents are willing to recommend this film to others, which makes it seem rather improbable that its scores will significantly increase.
