As a huge Spider-Man fan, I’ve been following all the news about the new movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Tom Holland’s been doing some really clever things to get everyone excited. Finally, on March 18th, Sony Pictures dropped the first official trailer, and honestly, it looks amazing! I’ve been waiting for this for ages.
Before the trailer was released, Tom Holland suggested it would be different from typical movie promotions. Working with the studio, they started by having fans worldwide share small parts of the trailer on social media.
What started as a community effort reached its peak with a stunning display at the Empire State Building. The 29-year-old actor went to the landmark himself and turned on a special lighting show, illuminating the building with bright red and blue colors.

The building was decorated with colors inspired by the suit Tom Holland wears in his latest movie, a look that connects back to the character’s original comic book design. The building’s Instagram page posted a video of the event, explaining it was a celebration of the new trailer’s release worldwide.
Seeing the skyscraper light up against the Manhattan skyline strongly reminded the character of how much they loved the city. Fans online were thrilled with the bold move, seeing it as proof that the superhero still resonated with people.
A fan celebrated the marketing campaign, saying it turned the entire city into a backdrop for promotion. They specifically praised Tom Holland illuminating the Empire State Building to announce the new trailer, writing, “This is the kind of publicity that shows why Spider-Man is the most successful solo superhero franchise ever. The city became the campaign, and that’s what great movie marketing looks like.”
The new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will be released on July 31st. It takes place four years after the events of No Way Home and follows Peter Parker as he lives a completely private life.
The movie boasts a huge cast, bringing back beloved characters alongside some unexpected new faces from the Marvel Universe. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, but their characters have forgotten everything about Peter Parker.
The trailer revealed Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner, and Jon Bernthal is back as the intense Frank Castle, the Punisher. Joining them are new cast members Sadie Sink, whose role is currently a secret, and Michael Mando, who is returning as the villain Scorpion.
In addition to his work as Spider-Man, Tom Holland has a packed summer planned for 2026. He’ll appear with Zendaya in Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey, just two weeks before the next Spider-Man movie comes out.
Recently, Holland has been prioritizing his personal well-being, focusing on getting sober and improving his mental health, and he often shares his journey to encourage others. Despite this, he continues to be a highly successful actor, seamlessly moving between large-scale blockbuster films and smaller, more personal projects.
The new movie aims to revitalize the series by concentrating on gritty street crime and Peter’s personal battle with changes to his DNA. Now that the trailer is out, fans are officially counting down the days until the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
