New LOST Documentary Explores the Show’s Legacy 20 Years Later

As a dedicated Lost enthusiast who has spent countless hours dissecting every minute detail of that enigmatic show, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming release of “Getting LOST“. It feels like a dream come true, reminiscent of when I first stumbled upon the mysterious island on my college dorm’s tiny television screen.

20 years ago, Oceanic Flight 815 mysteriously crashed on an unknown island and stirred up quite a storm in the television world. The TV show “Lost,” airing on ABC, was arguably the last captivating sci-fi enigma that swept the nation like wildfire. It significantly impacted the development of future sci-fi/fantasy series on streaming platforms, paving the way for executive producers J.J. Abrams and showrunner Damon Lindelof to ascend to prominence in Hollywood. Now, over a decade since its finale, a new documentary examines the far-reaching impact of “Lost” on pop culture. Check out the trailer for “Getting Lost” below.

The director of the movie, Taylor Morden, brought together numerous cast members from the show “Lost” for this extensive documentary project. Some of these include Evangeline Lilly, Daniel Dae Kim, Nestor Carbonell, Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, Jorge Garcia, Michael Emerson, Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse, Jack Bender, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Michael Giacchino, and many others. In an interview with Comicbook.com, here’s what Morden shared about the upcoming “Lost” documentary film:

I’ve been working tirelessly on this project for nearly three years now, and I can hardly contain my enthusiasm to share this movie with the global community of Lost fans. This has been an incredibly fulfilling experience that feels like a true labor of love. The opportunity to have our independent documentary screened in cinemas worldwide is nothing short of monumental. For me, there’s no greater pleasure than immersing myself in the cinema experience, and knowing that fellow Lost enthusiasts can gather together to watch this film in theaters brings me immeasurable satisfaction. This incredible journey from aspiring filmmaker to creator of a movie about one of my favorite TV shows has been beyond anything I could have imagined when I was a college student watching my beloved series. If someone had told me back then that 20 years later, JJ Abrams, Evangeline Lilly, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, and Terry O’Quinn would be part of the film, I would have thought them mad. Yet, here we are!

This movie, “Getting LOST,” is a definite must-see for any dedicated fans of the series, known as Losties. The film will be playing in cinemas throughout North America this fall, including in the U.K. They’re also planning screenings soon in New York City, Eugene, Oregon, and Orange County, California.
