As a big movie fan, I’m really excited to hear that Stephen Amell is taking over as Captain Hobie Buchannon in the new ‘Baywatch’ revival! He recently shared a peek behind the scenes, letting fans meet the team working on the show. It’s cool to see him stepping into this role and giving us a first look at what’s to come.
On Saturday, Amell posted a photo with some of his fellow actors – Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, Noah Beck, and Thaddeus LaGrone. They met up at the beach to get to know each other better before filming officially starts next week, helping them build chemistry as a group.
Amell recently acknowledged the dedicated team working behind the scenes to create the show. He posted, “Great stories come from the people you don’t see on camera, and I’m proud to work alongside this crew. Tomas and everyone else are fantastic. We begin filming on Monday!”

The actors seem really excited about the project, based on their online interactions. Noah Beck quoted a famous line from Walt Whitman, writing “o captain! my captain!”, and Jessica Belkin showed her support for his character by saying, “let’s go hobie!”
Livvy Dunne, a former gymnast now known for her online presence, also expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming photoshoot. Brooks Nader, who will play a key role as a rival lifeguard captain named Selene, chimed in online with a supportive message.
This new series picks up right where the original Baywatch left off, continuing the story that launched David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson to fame. Instead of a young boy, fans will now see the character they remember grown up and leading the lifeguards.

According to official character details, Selene’s working relationship with Hobie will be a major source of conflict. The description notes that although she’s good at her job, she and Baywatch Captain Hobie Buchannon disagree on how to save lives, leading to ongoing friction.
The tension between them is getting worse, especially because their family lives are now mixed with their work as lifeguards. According to production notes, things really start to fall apart when Hobie introduces his daughter, Charlie, to the team, revealing that their competition isn’t just about being lifeguards – it’s much more personal.
The latest version of the show centers around the surprising introduction of Charlie, portrayed by Belkin, and her determination to continue her family’s legacy of heroism. The production received a significant $21.1 million tax credit and will be filmed in both Venice Beach and at the Fox studio.
David Chokachi is back as Cody Madison! While it’s been a while since the nineties, Cody now owns and runs The Shoreline, a popular bar and grill connected to Baywatch. He still jumps in to help with rescues when needed, and acts as a mentor and friend to the lifeguards, always treating them to free wings after a successful save.
Stephen Amell has been a regular on TV since becoming well-known for his role in the popular superhero series, Arrow. He recently appeared in the wrestling drama Heels and is now working on the new legal series Suits: L.A., keeping him very busy.
Like many actors, Shay Mitchell has combined her work on shows like Pretty Little Liars with successful business projects. In addition to her role in the popular Netflix series You, she’s created a thriving travel brand called BÉIS that’s become a major player in the accessories world.
After building a successful career in fashion and recently appearing on Dancing with the Stars, Brooks Nader is now moving into scripted TV. Her experience with the Hulu reality show Love Thy Nader has helped her get used to being in the public eye, which will be useful as she takes on this new challenge.
Experienced TV creators are leading the revival, updating the iconic stunts and rescues for today’s viewers. Fans are eager to see how the new series combines the original show’s familiar look with the complex narratives found in today’s popular dramas.
Filming begins Monday, and the production is expected to remain along the California coast for the entire summer. Fox is heavily investing in this series as a key program for its new season, hoping to capitalize on popular, familiar themes and characters.
