As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in the entertainment industry, I have always been intrigued by the magical world of jukebox musicals and their ability to captivate audiences worldwide. The recent discussions surrounding a potential sequel to Mamma Mia, one of my all-time favorite films, have me reminiscing about the vibrant energy that permeated during its production and premier.
Amanda Seyfried has been talking about the prospect of another installment in the beloved 2008 musical romantic comedy, “Mamma Mia,” where she starred as Sophie Sheridan. Fans have suggested Sabrina Carpenter, famous for her work with Espresso, to potentially play Seyfried’s daughter in a sequel. In the original movie, Seyfried’s character was the daughter of Meryl Streep’s role, Donna Sheridan. Keep reading for more updates!
In her conversation with Will Ganss on ABC News, Amanda Seyfried discussed the potential for a third film in the Mamma Mia series. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, she expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying “Mamma Mia 3, let’s do it!” However, she also mentioned that no script has been presented to her yet.
Afterward, the reporter queried the actress about whether she witnessed Sabrina Carpenter sing the ABBA hit “Mamma Mia” during her latest performance on the Short ‘N Sweet tour at Madison Square Garden. Ganss clarified that in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, Cher and Meryl Streep played a mother-daughter pair, despite their minimal age difference, stating, “In the Mamma Mia universe of films, age is often overlooked as a significant factor.
Later on, he shared with the actress that some folks were wondering if Carpenter might portray Sophie’s daughter. To this, Seyfried responded somewhat hesitantly, “Well, in a technical sense, she could,” before following up, “You’re right, truthfully, it doesn’t make much difference.
In simpler terms, Amanda Seyfried stated that age isn’t important when it comes to acting roles. She mentioned that she could use old-age makeup for her part and expressed her readiness to adapt. Furthermore, if Sabrina Carpenter wishes to portray her daughter in a project, Seyfried is more than willing to help make this happen, as she’s an admirer of Carpenter.
Meanwhile, Mamma Mia is available to stream on Prime Video. Based on the songs of ABBA, the movie follows Sophie as she prepares for her wedding at her mother Donna’s (Meryl Streep) hotel on the Greek island of Kalokairi. Without Donna knowing, Sophie has secretly invited three men—Sam, Harry, and Bill—any of whom could be her father, hoping one will walk her down the aisle. Sophie hides them in a goat house, and they reluctantly agree to keep their identities a secret, as it’s meant to be a surprise.
