‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ First Fan Reactions Are in and It’s Not Looking Good

As a die-hard fan who’s been following the Joker saga since its inception, I must admit that my excitement for “Joker: Folie à Deux” was through the roof. The original film was a masterpiece that left an indelible mark on me, and the prospect of seeing Phoenix reprise his Oscar-winning role alongside Lady Gaga was nothing short of thrilling.

The hotly awaited sequel and one of this year’s most eagerly anticipated movies, titled “Joker: Folie à Deux“, is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. As the release date draws nearer, the film has become a popular topic of conversation online, particularly among fans who were fortunate enough to catch early previews prior to the official debut (excluding those who had the good fortune to see it in Venice!).

In case you didn’t know, Todd Phillips is once again at the helm as director and co-writer, and Joaquin Phoenix is set to reprise his award-winning role from the first film that earned two Oscars (Best Actor for Phoenix, and Best Original Score) and a staggering $1.079 billion in revenue. This time around, Lady Gaga will be sharing the main stage with him, and while there was much anticipation, early responses have been far from favorable.

In this article, we’ll share initial responses from those fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the film ahead of its release – specifically, “Joker: Folie à Deux”.

Previously mentioned, Joaquin Phoenix is set to repeat his Academy Award-winning character and share the screen with Lady Gaga in her portrayal of Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, a beloved DC Comics figure. Alongside Phoenix, Zazie Beetz reprises her role as Sophie Dumond. The film will feature new additions such as Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, and Harry Lawtey, who are yet to reveal their specific roles. Additionally, Leigh Gill and Sharon Washington return to portray Gary and Arthur’s social workers respectively.

After laying out the fundamentals, I’m eager to hear the chatter from fellow enthusiasts about this movie – and luckily, it’s not just negativity we’re hearing.

what a mess 😭😭😭

Discuss creating misleading anticipation through the Joker 2 trailer, a scene that didn’t make it into the film itself. In essence, this implies they had to deceive viewers to spark interest in watching Joker 2.

I guarantee you they wanted Lady Gaga so bad they let her make some creative decisions.

There’s a better movie about a weird classic villain with green hair in a suit currently in cinemas

If I were to be the one making decisions in Tinseltown, I’d say to the genius who brought music into the Joker storyline – you might want to reconsider your career in the film industry. #JokerMadnessRevisited

Joker: Folie à Deux offers a masterfully crafted narrative, centered around captivating song sequences – an extraordinary exploration of storytelling within a 200 million comic book film.

While the content left me disappointed😞, I must admit that the visuals were absolutely breathtaking and remarkable🌟, so there’s that, Todd Phillips🔥💯#JokerFolieADeux

One of the individuals I completely rely on for their insightful opinions shared with me that #JokerFolieADeux is arguably the least soulful comic book movie of 2024.

#JokerFolieADeux is a half baked love story with a manic pixie dream girl trope that had no business being a musical!

OH WHEN THE MARKET FORCES FORCE A SEQUEL 🙈

— ANMOL JAMWAL (@jammypants4) October 2, 2024

Folly A Deux could potentially be the poorest film of 2024, as its finale severely tarnishes the original. If you’re a devotee of the first movie, I strongly advise against watching Joker 2. 🃏 3/10 rating.

It’s apparent that the early responses aren’t favorable, and it looks like the second movie may not match the popularity of the original.
