Recent on-set pictures from Amazon’s Tomb Raider series reveal Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in action. Unlike the initial released photo, she’s wearing a more practical and concealing outfit.
New photos from Just Jared show Joe Turner filming an action-packed scene outdoors in the rain. He’s seen with two pistols, navigating through old stone ruins and a forest.
The images reveal Amazon’s Lara Croft will have a more practical, tactical appearance. She’ll be wearing long sleeves, protective body armor, gloves, boots, and full leg coverings, a departure from the more revealing outfits fans have traditionally seen the character in.

Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft Goes Tactical
The initial picture Amazon shared of the upcoming series used imagery people recognize from the Lara Croft video games. However, recent photos from the set reveal a different take on the character’s look and style.
Turner wears practical, durable combat gear designed for effectiveness and survival, rather than appearance.
The outfit features a cushioned vest, holsters for carrying items, tall boots, gloves, and close-fitting pants with straps around the thighs. This design choice indicates the show is striving for a realistic and functional look.
I’ve been looking at some set photos, and they really give you a sense of the action! It looks like Lara is right in the thick of a gunfight, dual-wielding pistols and using whatever cover she can find – in this case, a tree. The background seems to be some kind of crumbling, ancient ruins, which definitely adds to the danger and excitement.

New Photos Show More Of The Action
The biggest takeaway from the new images is that the show looks to be leaning hard into action.
Sophie Turner is seen in action, shooting guns and responding to danger, likely during a fast-paced chase or gunfight. The setting is a wet, muddy, and rugged landscape, consistent with the adventurous feel fans anticipate from the Tomb Raider series.

Amazon’s Tomb Raider Series Is Now Filming
Amazon has begun production on its new Tomb Raider series and shared the first image of actress Ella Balinska as Lara Croft to celebrate the start of filming.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the creative force behind the show, writing, producing, and sharing showrunning duties with Chad Hodge. Jonathan Van Tulleken directed the series and also served as an executive producer.
The film features a talented cast including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
