Global Citizen Festival 2024: Chris Martin And Ed Sheeran Team Up For Surprise Performance; WATCH

As a dedicated fan who has been following both these musical giants for what feels like a lifetime now, I can confidently say that witnessing Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin perform together was nothing short of magical! The fact that it was an unannounced performance only added to the excitement and anticipation.

Experiencing two extraordinary musicians sharing the same stage is an event you don’t want to miss! Last weekend at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin gave a surprise acoustic performance that had everyone talking, particularly because it was an impromptu show.

The 2024 Global Citizen Festival was held on September 28th, right in Central Park, New York. During this event, the crowd was left speechless when Ed Sheeran and the lead singer of Coldplay shared the stage for an impromptu performance.

Based on NME, the pair played four acoustic versions of their biggest hits by switching roles. They kicked off their performance with Ed Sheeran singing lead for a cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow,” followed by a joint effort where they performed Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” together.

Next, they seamlessly moved on to ‘Viva La Vida’, and later performed a piano version of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’. It was announced that Chris Martin would be present at the festival as a featured speaker.

At the Global Citizen Festival held in New York, some other notable artists included Lisa from BLACKPINK, who unveiled a fresh track titled “Moonlit Floor.” This song is scheduled for release on October 3, 2024.

Recently, it’s come to light that I’ve become a part-owner in Ipswich Town Football Club, acquiring a 1.4% stake last month. Since the year 2021, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the main sponsor for both their men’s and women’s teams, proudly emblazoned on their jerseys.

Speaking about Coldplay, they’ve just revealed a string of concert dates in 2025, spanning Europe and the United Kingdom. Notably, they plan an unprecedented 10-concert series at Wembley Stadium, setting a new record.

These new dates support Coldplay’s 10th studio album, Moon Music, set for release on October 4.
