‘I Was Trying To…’: Will Ferrell Recalls Getting Rejected on SNL by His Colleagues; Find Out as Barbie Actor Spills Beans

As a dedicated follower of Hollywood’s most inspiring journeys, I must say that Will and Harper’s story is one that truly resonates with me. Having witnessed the highs and lows of stardom, it’s heartwarming to see two friends supporting each other through thick and thin.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an insightful perspective from the one and only Will Ferrell. In his latest documentary, Will and Harper, streaming now on Netflix, he reflects on his journey in showbiz, particularly his early struggles at Saturday Night Live. Initially, it seemed that his peers didn’t find him amusing, a stark contrast to the laughter we all know today.

In a documentary, the actor who played Barbie shared insights into his journey through the entertainment industry alongside his close friend and Saturday Night Live writer, Harper Steele.

In the documentary, Ferrell embarked on a journey through the countryside with Steele following her public revelation as a transgender woman.

On my recent adventure, I found myself in the company of new acquaintances who seemed somewhat puzzled by my presence. They appeared to question, “Who is this person and why does he appear unfunny?” However, little did they know, humor isn’t always an instant hit with everyone.

Later on, the writer-producer playfully observed, disclosing, “During our first week, we both went downstairs for lunch, and there was an uncanny connection between us in various aspects.

I couldn’t agree more! They underestimated Will Ferrell, but I always had a feeling he wasn’t the ‘dud’ everyone thought he was.

While touring cities and rural areas, Will Ferrell (the Anchorman actor) shared that he often utilized his celebrity status to strike up conversations with strangers. During this journey, both Steele and Ferrell delved into personal and heartfelt subjects, discussing aspects of their lives and Steele’s identity, marking a significant milestone as she now lives authentically as herself.

In regards to her struggles with embracing her true self, Harper admitted to the Elf actor, “For my entire writing career and creative life, I portrayed a character named Andrew. That’s how I view it at least. And so revealing myself to friends was particularly challenging, and I’m unsure if they see me as Harper. I believe they might still think of me as Andrew, but now I wear dresses.

Apart from the duo, several other SNL co-stars who appear in the Will & Harper documentary include Lorne Michaels (the show’s creator), Fred Armisen, Tina Fey, Will Forte, Colin Jost, Tim Meadows, Seth Meyers, Tracy Morgan, Paula Pell, Molly Shannon, Kristen Wiig, and more.

Will & Harper is available to watch on Netflix.
