As a lifelong Hellboy enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of the BPRD and the mystical realms that Mike Mignola masterfully crafted, I can confidently say that this limited edition print is an absolute treasure for any avid fan like myself.

We appreciate anyone who loves a particular food enough to have it become part of their identity. Cookie Monster, Chuck E. Cheese, Kevin Bacon. Plus, people whose names aren’t even related to the food! When it comes to hot, tasty flapjacks, no one in pop culture loves them more than Mike Mignola’s Hellboy. The big red guy celebrates his 30th anniversary this year, a truly impressive milestone. To celebrate, and to coincide with this year’s National Pancake Day (which is September 26th, naturally), Dark Horse Direct is releasing a hand-numbered, limited edition print of Mignola’s iconic, two-page Pancakes comic, in which young Hellboy discovers “pamcakes.”

The first appearance of pancakes can be traced back to the 1999 edition of Dark Horse Presents Annual. This seminal story was crafted by Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy, offering fans an insight into the experiences of raising a young Hellboy. The narrative also subtly highlights that Hellboy shares many similarities with children on Earth. Interestingly, even denizens of Hell recognize their loss when they see him taking a bite of these ordinary pancakes.






This unique, hand-numbered screenprint measuring 24 inches wide by 18 inches tall is a limited edition of only 250 pieces, set to ship in November 2024. Known as “The Hellboy 30th Anniversary: Pancakes! Screenprint,” it’s printed on high-quality, uncoated 100# Cougar paper and will retail for $60.00.
