Chicago Med Season 10: Showrunner Teases Major Comebacks And Fresh Faces

As a lifestyle expert with a deep-rooted passion for TV shows and a keen eye for character development, I must say that the upcoming Season 10 of Chicago Med has me intrigued! Having spent countless hours immersed in the world of entertainment and storytelling, I can confidently say that Allen MacDonald’s vision for the series under his new leadership is nothing short of exciting.

As a diehard fan, I can’t contain my excitement for Season 10 of Chicago Med! Stepping into the shoes of the long-standing showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider is Allen MacDonald, and he’s got some major surprises in store. He hinted at the return of beloved characters and the arrival of new faces that will surely shake things up. In an exclusive chat with Variety, MacDonald shared his vision for the upcoming season – and I can hardly wait to see it unfold!

Allen MacDonald steps into the role as the lead producer for Chicago Med during its 10th season, succeeding Frolov and Schneider who have steered the show for many years. MacDonald is already familiar with the One Chicago universe, and he’s clearly thrilled about assuming this new position.

MacDonald expressed his deep affection for the world and characters he found himself in, stating it was like a playground he couldn’t wait to explore. He admitted to the difficulties that come with continuing an established series but remains optimistic about the show’s trajectory as it embarks on this significant season.

In Season 10, we’ll see two fresh characters joining the scene: Dr. Caitlin Lenox and Dr. John Frost. Their arrival is anticipated to bring a burst of new vitality to the hospital.

Dr. Caitlin Lenox, portrayed by Sarah Ramos, is depicted as a no-nonsense individual. MacDonald explained that Lenox isn’t a cozy, affectionate person. Instead, she is highly effective and focused on accomplishing tasks within budget. However, people often misunderstand her as being uncaring, which is not the case. Rather, she views situations from a wider angle.

Dr. John Frost, portrayed by Darren Barnet, is a charming, fresh addition to the medical field. He forms bonds with others through his appealing looks and character. MacDonald noted that Frost is genuinely kind and good-looking. He leverages these traits to better assist his patients.

On the contrary, as MacDonald pointed out, his charm doesn’t resonate with all. Interestingly, the first individual he encounters is Maggie Lockwood, portrayed by Marlyne Barrett, who instantly perceives his façade and swiftly brings him back down to earth.

Besides introducing some fresh characters, MacDonald hinted at the reappearance of a few well-known figures in Season 10. Although he didn’t mention any names explicitly, he did suggest that some past cast members might make guest appearances throughout the season.

In the intriguing universe of One Chicago, it’s heartening to know that even when an actor departs from the show, they remain a part of this world. It’s something I always enjoy catching up on, and this sentiment seems to be fueling speculation among fans about which actors might reprise their roles in future episodes, adding to the buzz for what’s coming next.

Over time, some key actors like Nick Gehlfuss, Yaya DaCosta, Torrey DeVitto, and Brian Tee who joined Chicago Med from its inception have departed the series.

For instance, Tee is now lending his voice as the main character in the animated series “Get Jiro!”, which is based on Anthony Bourdain’s graphic novel series, and he will also feature in the third season of “Reacher”.

Ever since Chicago Med debuted in 2015 as part of Dick Wolf’s One Chicago universe, I’ve been hooked! It joined the ranks as the third installment, following the captivating Chicago Fire (which kicked off in 2012) and the gripping Chicago P.D. (premiering in 2014). Though Chicago Justice graced our screens for a brief moment in 2017, it unfortunately only lasted one season before being canceled. But hey, more Med for me!
