In July, the person who found fitness icon Richard Simmons’ deceased body, Teresa Reveles, filed a petition claiming that his brother, Leonard ‘Lenny’ Simmons, and his wife Cathy have been manipulating her to give up her position as co-trustee of Simmons’ estate. According to People, she submitted this petition on September 25th, alleging that they devised a harmful plan to persuade her into signing documents removing her trustee status while she was still grieving following Richard’s death.

The petition indicates that for approximately 36 years, Teresa was not just a partner but also a caretaker, confidante, and closest friend to Richard. This relationship was the basis for Simmons naming Teresa as one of his successors in legal documents. According to court filings, Teresaa herself stated that her employer and long-term friend desired and anticipated her to manage his trust should he pass away before her.

The document provides additional information about when Teresa relinquished her rights, stating that she did so after Lenny and Cathy had taken her to a discussion regarding Richard’s finances, which followed their visit to his open casket. Overcome by emotions and worried about losing the inheritance Richard had bequeathed to her, Teresa, as per her own narrative, surrendered her claim to ownership.

In her filing, Teresa Reveles asserts that she was not given a chance to consult with a lawyer before signing the documents because Cathy and Lenny refused to postpone the procedure. Now, with her new legal representation, Teresa is working towards reclaiming her place in Richard’s trust and taking legal action against Lenny to prevent him from exploiting Richard’s image and persona for personal advantage. The caretaker alleges that the two brothers had not met each other in over six years prior to Richard’s demise.

On this fateful day, the LAPD was called to my residence, but regrettably, they found me gone before their arrival. In an official statement released by a family representative in August, it was disclosed that my passing was due to unforeseen complications from recent falls, with heart disease playing a significant role as a contributing factor.
