Daisy Ridley Believes It Will Be Easier for Her to Play Rey after Sequel Trilogy Experience

As a seasoned gamer with decades of immersion in countless virtual worlds, I can confidently say that the Star Wars universe is not just another game to me; it’s a lifelong passion and an integral part of my pop culture journey. The anticipation for new stories set within this galaxy far, far away has always been a beacon of excitement, and the news of a potential Rey sequel was no exception.

In terms of size among fictional realms, the Star Wars universe stands out as one of the most expansive. Ever since its debut, the idea for the first movie by George Lucas has blossomed into a colossal universe teeming with countless, possibly even countless millions, of narratives.

Beyond the widely acclaimed movies, shows such as The Acolyte and The Mandalorian have drawn significant attention. While these may not have been quite as universally beloved as certain other productions, collectively they play a vital role in today’s popular culture landscape.

After wrapping up “The Acolyte”, we shared that Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed their intention to produce three “Star Wars” movies between 2026 and 2027. One of these movies will reportedly focus on Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey, from the Sequel Trilogy.

Although it appeared that the movie was progressing smoothly, recent news suggests that the production has encountered a setback as Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to postpone it temporarily, potentially focusing on other projects instead. Meanwhile, Daisy Ridley shared her thoughts about reprising her role as Rey in an interview.

Concerning the upcoming film, it has been shared that it was intended to continue the storyline following Episode IX of the Sequel Trilogy, primarily focusing on Rey establishing a new Jedi Order. The tentative title for this project is “New Jedi Order”. It’s expected that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will be at the helm as director and Steven Knight will pen the script, with Ridley returning to portray Rey once more.

Initially, the film was meant to start preparation without a fixed release date, but recent whispers suggest that the production companies may postpone the project. This could mean a wait before Rey graces the cinema screens again.

Yet, despite the numerous speculations surrounding it, Daisy Ridley shared her feelings about reprising the role of Rey in an interview with Premiere magazine.

Have you ever pondered about where Rey ended up or what her life turned out to be following the events of The Rise of Skywalker?

Initially, I didn’t show much interest, but once questioned, I found myself engaged. I thought the narrative ended satisfactorily, making Rey’s reappearance significant and worthwhile, in my opinion. Additionally, my perspective has shifted considerably; when I started this journey at 21, I am now 32 with expanded film set knowledge. It’s intriguing to envision how my present life experiences might influence the character moving forward.

Do you think it will be easier than back then to handle the attention a role like this generates?

On the day that Star Wars 7 was premiered, it surprised me that many people didn’t consider Rey as a significant character. My mother even commented to me, “Apparently, they must have thought you were talented, since they invested so much into this film.

It’s quite unusual to transition from striking a pose for photographs on the red carpet, enjoying a film, and unexpectedly encountering people exclaiming, “Wow, it’s you!” in the restroom.

Out of the blue, I was identified in a public setting, far from my workplace. It’s quite challenging to grasp this sudden turn of events. Moreover, I had no previous travel experiences. However, I found myself globetrotting and engaging in peculiar encounters with diverse individuals.

At first, I wasn’t aware of what a press junket entailed – a series of interviews lasting for hours, often held in hotels. It was all new and exciting to me! As time went by, things became less hectic, and I gained a better understanding of the process. Now that I know how everything functions, it will certainly be more manageable in the future.
