Thunderbolts Trailer Breakdown: All Details You May Have Missed Including An Easter Egg From Marvel Comics

As a lifelong Marvel fanatic who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate tapestry of stories and characters that make up this universe, I must say that the latest trailer for Thunderbolts* left me positively thrilled! The way they’ve managed to breathe new life into these familiar faces while keeping their unique quirks intact is nothing short of marvelous (pun intended).

The protagonists never seem to grow weary; instead, they crave even more of the work they’ve been engaged in throughout their lives. In the latest trailer for Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, Yelena, US Agent, and others appear to be leading ordinary lives, yet it seems they are restless with this arrangement.

Initially, the U.S. Agent appears somewhat weary with his existence, as it seems he’s taken on a parental role. Yet, there’s a longing in him for the past excitement and pulse-pounding pursuits he used to experience. It just might be that Thunderbolts can offer the adrenaline rush he yearns for.

This brand-new trailer for the eagerly awaited Marvel Studios movie might have left some details unnoticed during viewing. Don’t worry; we’re here to help you catch up!

Yelena Trying to Find a Purpose

Although her father, Alexei Shostakov (formerly known as Red Guardian), seems content with his life, Yelena is on a quest for a meaningful purpose. Despite blending inconspicuously, she continues to insert herself into conflicts that neither require nor belong to her.

The exact timeframe hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s anticipated that the Black Widow story will unfold post-Hawkeye’s events in the upcoming film.

Is Bucky Barnes Facing a New Trial?

Although people are found at home with family or individually, the character Sebastian Stan is depicted as being tangled up in ongoing legal matters.

Could it be possible that he’s currently taking some action, or perhaps if he were somehow involved, this is what might have transpired? It seems likely we may encounter Zemo once more, given the movie’s focus on villains joining forces and the fact that the film’s antagonist has not been disclosed in the trailer yet.

Are the bad guys being hunted or being gathered?

Shortly after, Yelena steps into an expansive room brimming with files and apparatus that appear to be used in human testing. Yet, she isn’t by herself; moments later, the US Agent attempts to assault her within this sea of documents. Simultaneously, she discovers a crucial blueprint amidst the clutter.

Without knowing who arranged it, we observe the doors shutting and what appears to be warm air being pumped through vents. This air might potentially contain a sedative to subdue the rebels, allowing for their transfer to a specified location.

Ghost is able to hold things perfectly

Throughout her entire life, she’d always found it challenging to maintain control over items. However, now she finds herself not just managing objects in her surroundings but also employing them as tools for taking lives.

Who is Bob?

Greetings to our latest addition, Bob, whose face might be unfamiliar from the trailer, but based on prior whispers, he appears to wield a power as potent as a million suns.

Indeed, your hunch is correct! It’s highly likely that Bob will take on the role of The Sentry. In fact, the trailer suggests that the building where the villains seem to assemble could possibly contain files related to The Sentry.

In the hallway, there are several salt containers, which could potentially be used by Bob or other individuals who have undergone experiments.

For the less familiar among us, an unfortunate incident befalls Robert Reynolds, where he inadvertently ingests a highly amplified version (100,000 times stronger) of the Super Solider serum. Over time, this leads to him acquiring the abilities akin to Sentry, making him part of another experiment involving super soldiers.

It becomes strikingly clear that Sentry is present when we observe Bob fleeing what appears to be a containment facility for him, showing signs of singed clothing and gunshot wounds.

Yet, there wasn’t a single scratch or mark on Bob’s skin after the attack. Moreover, it seems like the emblem that Sentry carries on his belt has been taken by someone.

Throwback to Loki’s Scepter

In a setting graced by the elite, surrounded by an array of unique treasures, I happened upon Loki’s scepter, enclosed within a glass case. Its former glory seemed diminished now that the Mind Stone had been removed from its grasp, leaving it merely as a relic to admire rather than a tool of power.

Meanwhile, we also see two huge posters, reminding us of the “Battle of New York.”

The Computer Screen

Initially, Geraldine Viswanathan portrays Mel in the trailer, where she is seen positioned before a screen.

Upon closer inspection, it seems like the screen may be emitting a radiation-like image, which suggests that an experiment is being conducted or perhaps there’s a Sentry present.

Are they in the Avengers Tower?

In the Marvel movies, we might see a return to the iconic Avengers Tower in New York, having not appeared for some time.

Whenever the entire Thunderbolts assembly encounters Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, it appears as if she’s stationed in a space that feels reminiscent of where Tony Stark used to stand.

In this upcoming movie, Thunderbolts boasts an impressive cast of talented actors. Notably returning are Stan, Florence Pugh, and David Harbour. Additionally joining the team will be Wyatt Russell playing the US Agent, Olga Kurkylenko as Taskmaster, Hanna John-Kamen as Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the role of Fontaine.

Some intriguing cameos are being whispered about for the upcoming movie. Keep an eye out to discover which character will be the main antagonist and who else is contributing to this production. Catch the Thunderbolts in action at a cinema near you on May 2, 2025.
