In a report by Variety, it’s been announced that Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi will take on lead roles in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Currently expecting her first child, the 34-year-old Barbie actress will portray Catherine Earnshaw, while the 27-year-old actor from Saltburn has been cast as her renowned lover, Heathcliff.
The upcoming movie, sharing its title with Emily Brontë’s renowned book, is being developed by MRC along with LuckyChap Entertainment. As per current updates, preparations for the production are ongoing, and it’s anticipated that shooting will commence in the UK towards the end of this year.
Following the success of her Academy Award-winning 2020 release, Promising Young Woman, and the recent thriller/comedy Saltburn from the previous year, Fennell now has three feature films under his belt as a director, with Wuthering Heights being the latest addition.
In Saltburn, it was Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Productions that took charge of production for both films, and actor Chris Elordi brought to life the lovable character of Felix Catton, a college student.

This is the latest interpretation of Wuthering Heights, which has been reimagined for various platforms such as film, television, radio plays, stage productions, and even musical adaptations.
Robbie and Elordi have multiple upcoming ventures. Firstly, you’ll find Robbie in the drama titled “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” which is being directed by the acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Kogonada. As a producer, Robbie is associated with various projects such as “Monopoly” and adaptations of “The Sims.
In the upcoming Frankenstein movie helmed by Guillermo del Toro, Elordi will portray Lieutenant-Colonel Dorrigo Evans. Additionally, he has been cast as The Monster in Curio Pictures’ Prime Video series titled “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” which was filmed in New South Wales.
