Ross Marquand Reignites Hopes for Steve Rogers’ MCU Comeback by Reviving Rumors of a Major Captain America Project

As a seasoned gamer and long-time Marvel fanatic who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless heroes, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement at the prospect of Captain America returning to the big screen, or rather, the small one in this case. The idea of Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers for a limited series focusing on the Infinity Stones is nothing short of intriguing.

A few months ago, we reported a rumor about a specific Captain America project in development.

Based on information from a reputable source, it appears that plans were underway for a restricted television show revolving around Chris Evans’ character, Steve Rogers (Captain America). This series was intended to follow Captain America as he navigated his mission to restore the Infinity Stones to their original time locations following the incidents of the Time Heist.

As an ardent admirer, I’ve pondered over the possibility that this series might be intertwined with the impending “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Some fans, displeased with Sam Wilson assuming the Captain America mantle, have been yearning for Chris Evans’ return. However, “Endgame” seems to have limited possibilities for a comeback, mostly through a variant character.

This limited series might appeal to a significant group within our audience, and it would logically fit, since it delves into happenings preceding Steve Rogers’ establishment of the parallel timeline.

After that point, there was little news about the show, leading us to believe the rumors were largely untrue. However, it appears we were wrong. At Edmonton Expo 2024, Ross Marquand, known for his roles in the MCU such as Red Skull and Ultron, shared that he proposed an interesting storyline to the studio.

Marquand voiced his wish for a miniseries centered around Captain America, who aims to restore the Infinity Stones to their original locations in the timeline.

In other words, just because the show was presented for consideration and talked about, it doesn’t automatically mean it’s being actively developed. This aligns with MyTimeToShineHello’s previous observations.

In a surprising twist, Chris Evans has made his comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time playing the role of the Human Torch in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. Previously, he had played this character in the initial Fantastic Four movies.

To be honest, I was quite thrilled when I heard whispers of him potentially reprising his role as Captain America. But, more recently, he’s made it clear that he doesn’t casually ponder over returning to the role. He pointed out that keeping the original Captain America in play might not align with the MCU’s efforts to introduce a new hero for the mantle.
