As a long-time fan of The Voice, I must admit that the show has lost some of its charm since Blake Shelton‘s departure last year. Don’t get me wrong, Snoop Dogg is a fantastic addition to the panel, but it’s just not the same without good ol’ Blake.
Are you a fan of “The Voice,” music enthusiasts? I must admit, it seemed to be more engaging back when the format was slightly different and less…unusual. Yes, having Snoop Dogg on the show is great, but his presence can also be enjoyed in various other settings, such as at the Olympics. However, we miss the vibe that Blake Shelton used to bring to the show.
Over the course of 23 seasons starting from 2011, Shelton served as a judge on the show. Alongside Adam Levine from Maroon 5, they were regular fixtures for quite some time, although there were instances when it appeared they didn’t see eye to eye. Whether that was intentional for entertainment purposes isn’t clear. For several years, his current spouse, Gwen Stefani who is a member of the band No Doubt, also judged on the show.
In May last, Shelton felt it was time for a change and opted out of the program. He wanted to focus on new aspects of his life. Given his prosperous career, the monetary compensation from The Voice was unnecessary for him.
Blake Shelton jokes about why he really left The Voice
Instead of asking what Shelton might do, let me rephrase it as follows: Could we speculate about the activities Shelton may engage in if given the chance? Might he release new albums, embark on a long tour, or perhaps opt for a Netflix marathon instead?
Prior to Shelton’s appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay over the weekend, he was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show. Since McAfee is part of the GameDay panel, Shelton appeared on his show to boost the viewership for that particular Saturday’s episode.
As a fellow Sooner, I didn’t need to embark on a long journey to join ESPN’s show in Norman, Oklahoma, right before the epic Oklahoma vs Tennessee game. It was just a short trip for me, but I did have some other commitments that took me elsewhere, as I shared with McAfee.
It seems that Blake Shelton left the “The Voice” show because he’s currently elk hunting in Utah and absolutely loves it up there. He mentioned that as a child, he didn’t have the opportunity to go elk hunting since he grew up in Oklahoma. Now, he finds joy in doing new things like this, including getting some exercise and challenging himself by hiking mountains with a hangover every morning. This change of pace is what he feels he needs in his life, which led him to quit “The Voice.
Alright, I see your point. However, it seems concerning to have a hangover every day. On the bright side, Shelton burns off those calories by scaling mountains instead.
